The Pender Guy radio collective grew out of a wave of Chinese Canadian youth activism in the early 1970s, running their operations from Vancouver’s Chinatown. The show explored issues related to Chinese-Canadian identity, history, politics, and art through news reporting, interviews, humour, drama, and music. As part of this year's Literasian festival on May 29, members of the Pender Guy will share their memories on the show and play some of their favourite segments from the tapes while the community activists who helped preserve and document the show share the importance of the Pender Guy archives to the community both locally and internationally.
