From Nova Scotia, Canada, Latin rock guitar virtuoso and composer Roland Smith is garnering a reputation as a dynamic live performer and recording artist. His 2019 run of festival and theatre shows left a trail of audiences delighted and entertained, topping the season as headliner for the Atlantic Flamenco Festival. Roland’s debut album Equilibrium (2018) is best described as Latin/nuevo flamenco meets Steve Vai meets classical crossover. As an orchestral composer, Roland’s Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra premiered in 2019 with the composer as soloist. Other premieres include works for symphony orchestra, chamber music, and accompaniments to ballet and film. Roland was awarded the prize for Best Tonal Music at the 2017 International Antonín Dvoák Composition Competition held in Prague, Czech Republic, of which he has been a two-time finalist. Roland officially endorses Godin Guitars.
