SKIN CARE ROUTINE WHEN WEARING FACE MASKS Most of us have been wearing masks in some capacity to help protect ourselves and others during this global pandemic. While wearing a mask to the store once or twice a month likely isn’t causing damage to your skin, there are people in the medical and essential services field who are wearing masks 8 to 12 hours a day and their skin is taking a toll. Repetitive friction and limited airflow can cause a number of issues to the skin. Here... we will explore how skin care products can help to treat these problems. Chaffing or blistering of the skin: N95 and medical-grade masks are designed to keep all outside air away from the nose and mouth. This means a snug fit of the mask against the face which can cause chaffing, blistering, and rawness to the skin. This type of damage to the skin is not only painful but can also cause long-term scarring. Here we recommend keeping the skin clean and treated with healing ingredients when the mask is off. Vivier HEXAM is a gentle, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory cleanser that works well to clean compromised skin. Gently washing the affected area once or twice daily with lukewarm water and patting dry can help to prevent infection and promote healing. In addition to keeping the area clean, you should use a moisturizing cream such as Vivier LEXXEL . This will help alleviate and protect against chapping, cracking and roughness, while also relieving itching due to dryness. Applying a thin layer of LEXXEL whenever the mask is off and overnight during sleep will help to soothe, calm and repair the area. Should the irritation caused by the mask become unbearable, there are bandages available at your local pharmacy designed for sensitive skin that may be worn as a barrier between the skin and the mask.

VIVIERSKIN LET'S TALK VITAMIN C (PART 1) Many people understand aging skin as a natural and inevitable aspect of life. While this is partially true, there are actually factors outside of biology that damage our skin and lead to an aged appearance prematurely. Free-radical damage is one of the leading contributors to aging skin and unfortunately we’re exposed to it every day. UV exposure, pollution, stress, smoking, poor diet, alcohol consumption,... even hormonal changes can cause free-radical damage to our cells. We all have that friend or relative who worshipped the sun (or worse the tanning bed) in their younger years and now look much older than their actual age free radical damage is to blame. Luckily, in conjunction with avoiding sun exposure and wearing sunscreen, the daily use of a topical antioxidant will combat this damage and help to keep our skin looking youthful and healthy. Let’s take a deeper dive into antioxidants. What are antioxidants and which one should I choose? There are a variety of antioxidants found in skin care products today. Some of the most prevalent include Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin A (Retinols/Retnoids), Niacinamide, and Resveratrol just to name a few. Vitamin C is the most popular of the group and has been proven to be incredibly effective. Since our skin is experiencing free-radical damage on a daily basis, we want a product like Vitamin C that is safe to wear during the day and won’t sensitize our skin to the sun, like Vitamin A. In addition to providing protection from free-radical damage, Vitamin C brightens the skin, evens out tone and texture, and plays a huge role in collagen production. While Vitamin A products are certainly a powerhouse anti-aging category in their own right, it’s not solely due to their antioxidant power #foreveryoung #stayhomemississauga #vivierskin #skincare #skincareclinic #botox #microneedlingmississagp #botoxmississauga #botoxtoronto
