What a difference a year makes...Happy 1st Birthday Medical Sniffer Dogs Inc. Sasha, Thelma, Hannah and Fern !

Missed a few days, but here is our next share in honour of Service Dog week. Caroline and Medical Alert Service Dog, Steffi: Steffi is one of the lovely girls Medical Sniffer Dogs obtained to train for a second career after she became a CKC champion and produced beautiful puppies for Nonnies Cockers. Although trained originally to be a diabetic alert dog (DAD), Steffi enjoys her beauty sleep and prefers to work the day shift. Finding just the right match between service dog and handler is paramount. From the first day that Caroline and Steffi met, it was evident that they needed each other and were destined to become partners as the next Medical Sniffer Dog team. So proud of this amazing duo!

Third daily tribute to some of our Medical Alert Service Dog teams in honour of service dog week. Kaylin and Medical Sniffer Dog, Heidi: This pair has grown so much over the past two years together. What's truly amazing is how much they have also transformed as a team. Although Heidi was initially trained to alert to a specific medical episode, Kaylin's health has changed drastically and Heidi's skills have transformed right along side those health changes. Every new and uniq...ue medical event and condition that Kaylin experiences, Heidi quickly learns is yet another critical issue to which Kaylin and her parents need to be alerted. Everyday, around the clock, this little 22lb dog, comes to the aid of her beloved girl. She never skips a beat, alerting upwards of 30 minutes in advance of various medical episodes and staying on Kaylin's body, providing deep pressure, speeding her recovery and keeping her safe. The second in our daily tributes to some of our Medical Alert Service Dog teams in honour of service dog week. Medical Sniffer Dog, Murphy and Kara: Murphy has had an action packed journey! He was Medical Sniffer Dogs' first trained service dog and originally placed as a diabetic alert dog in June 2015 at the young age of just 1 year old. He is also our poster child on our brochures and banners. He faithfully served his first partner exceptionally well alerting her day and ...night. However, when life changes happened, Murphy adapted amazingly well by moving back to Canada and being matched with Kara, as her guardian angel. Kara Burrow and Murphy have developed such a strong bond, that you would think they have been together from the beginning. Everyone at Medical Sniffer Dogs is so very proud of this amazing Medical Alert Service dog team! See more

Over the next few days, we will be sharing the posts that some of our Medical Alert Service Dog teams posted in honour of Service Dog week. Such an amazing team, Medical Sniffer Dogs Hope and Beth Frazis!!!! Never would we have imagined that in the three years since she was placed with Beth, Hope has still not missed a single alert! That's a 100% accuracy in giving advanced alerts to hundreds of medical episodes!!! ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!
