Curling Alberta has another (new) way to more grab free money for our club! They’ve divided their member curling clubs into three categories based on the population size of the community (small, medium and large). We fit into the Medium category. On Wednesday, March 24th, one club from each category with the top ticket sales will be rewarded with a $500 bonus.... On Thursday, March 25th, the top two clubs in each category will receive a $500 bonus. That's an extra $3,000 that will go directly back to curling clubs. https://curlingalbertaraffle.5050central.com/

Great news! By purchasing your 50/50 tickets through the below link 50% of the proceeds from each ticket sale will go to our very own club! That’s right, 50% will go to Medicine Hat Curling Club and 50% will go to the eventual winner. What a great way to support the club and maybe win a nice sum of cash for yourself! Daily draws are taking place and will continue until March 25 in conjunction with the 2021 Home Hardware Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship. Good luck everyone! https://curlingalbertaraffle.5050central.com//SelectTickets

I would like to take an opportunity to congratulate Kiara Tessier on her graduation from Crescent Heights High School. Kiara has been part of junior curling for many years, both as a participant and as a coach. In fact, she completed the Club Coach course when she was too young to even get formal recognition for it. She has volunteered with junior curling 2 days a week for the last several years which has been greatly appreciated. Good luck Kiara and THANK YOU for your dedication to junior curling!

Spoiler alert - Steve the Barista from Medicine Hat does not fare well....perhaps next season we can send someone with a better chance of making the team. This will put a smile on your face even if you aren’t a fan of The Bachelor. Enjoy!

What an excellent weekend of curling and fun at this years annual Men’s Bonspiel. This year we were able to host 32 teams in a 4 day event. The A Event winner this year was the John Stroh team of Medicine Hat over the Tim Krassman foursome from Calgary. Stroh stole four single points in the first four ends to take the commanding 4-0 lead. Krassman fought his way back counting one in the 5th end, stealing 1 in 6 and 2 in the 7th end to tie the game. In the final end Stroh’s... teammates did a great job of keeping things clear and Krassman guarded their only stone in the eight foot, leaving Stroh a draw to the four foot. Helping Stroh in making the four foot draw were Garth Stark, Mike Stroh and Fred Weinheimer. 3rd and 4th place went to WFG (World Financial Group) and Delvin Moch. B Event Kyle Wagner from Medicine Hat controlled their final game against the Jason Tuchscherer squad and the game was conceded in the seventh end. Playing with Wagner were Corey Perrin, Jason Kunz and Greg Sjolie. 3rd and 4th place winners were C. Sehn Trucking (Richmound, SK) and the Bowyer foursome. C Event The C final was claimed by the Jamie Motokado team from Medicine Hat. Throwing 4th stones was Sam Nygaard and other team members Roland Poirier and Jason McLean. The Motokado team defeated Drew Heidt by a 7-1 score in 7 ends. 3rd and 4th place teams were Carmen Ressler and the Dynamic Industrial Solutions teams. D Event The Funk Foursome had a tight battle until they counted four in the 6th end to take a three point lead. In the final end Funk ran Jake’s Drywall out of rocks to claim the victory. Playing with Trevor Funk were Jordan Kindrat, John Osjanikow and Bryden Smith. Andy Stroh and Rob Wall had to settle for 3rd and 4th losing out in the semi-finals. Thank you very much to all the players, fans, volunteers and staff for making this event a wonderful success. A big thank you to our sponsors this year: Servus Credit Union Medicine Hat News Chat 94.5/My96.1 Hale Hearing Medicine Hat Monumental Booster Juice Medicine Hat Brew Co Without the continued support of all parties involved the event would not have been such a great success. We hope everyone had a great time and we look forward to next year.

What an exiting senior Bonspiel we had this year. This year’s Senior Bonspiel Open Division crowned a new champion. The Terry Devalter foursome defeated the Bruce Perrin team by a 5 to 3 score. It was a close battle with Devalter and Perrin exchanging singles in the first three ends. Devalter stole one in the fourth and Perrin responded with one of his own in the fifth. Another exchange of singles in the sixth and seventh ends left Devalter with a 4 3 lead going into the... eighth end with hammer. Devalter counted one more in the final end to claim the title. Playing with Devalter were Kraig Kohls, Ken Bachmeier and Lloyd Robinson. B Event The ladies foursome of Sheila Rumberg, Bev Bischoff, Dee Cowan and Arlene Seitz defeated the Art Scott team by a score of 9-0. C Event Last year’s defending champion managed to still claim an event in this year’s spiel. Harvey Moch downed the Glen Smeby team by a final score of 7 4. Assisting Harvey in the victory were Leon Moch, Robert Jensen and Milt Landsiedel. D Event Bing Sulz scoring three in the sixth end took a four point lead over the Liz Unrau team. The game was conceded in the seventh end with another steal. Helping Sulz to victory were Dwight Pahl, Bruce Stuber and Mario Biemans. E Event - The Cal Hauserman team skipped by Glen Nunweiler defeated the Roger Bouchard team 8 to 5. Nunweiler’s foursome included Celine Linfoot, Ylonda Jordheim and Deb Burton. Masters Division A Event Ted Ganden playing with Gerry Munro, Mell Durr and Don Borrowman claimed the Masters Championship by defeating Brian Moat by a 7-4 score. B Event Carol Eisenbarth was a winner over the Gary Haus team by a 9 4 score. Eisenbarth’s team consisted of Connie Silcher, Shirley Drefs, and Vicky Landsiedel. C Event The C side saw Ray Aman defeat Source for Sports (Poersch) 7 2. The game was conceded after the 6th end. Congratulations to all teams. And thank you to all teams, sponsors, and fans for continued support!
