Knowing our culture means knowing who we are. When we know who we are, we can walk in a good way. It’s been said when teachings are passed down from one generation to the next, good things can happen. Language is learned, knowledge is shared, and culture is practiced. In this story of language preservation, Author/Illustrator and Anishnaabemowin language teacher Juliana Armstrong illuminates a number of Anishnaabemowin words along with their cultural connections, passed down from her Ojibway ancestors. https://medicinewheel.education//this-is-what-ive-been-told

Kindness! Let's be kind! Over the last two days I have had many conversations with authors, customers and people in my life. There are Elders passing away, families struggling through separation and some people in serious crisis. I think we are underestimating the impact of Covid-19, the isolation, the lack of community, loneliness and essentially the fatigue of the pandemic. People are tired and hitting a point of exhaustion. So let's be kind. Let's be patient. Let's be kin...d to others and also to ourselves. I know we all do our best and that's all that is asked of us. Be kind to yourself when you make mistakes. Be kind to yourself when you lose your patience. Be kind to those around you. We are all in this together. With love and kindness, The MWE team!

We are a fast-paced little grassroots company looking for a keen, smart, well-intended educator to join our team on a contract basis. If you feel you have the necessary skillset and are interested in making a positive social impact in the world, please forward your resume (if you have one handy) to [email protected]. Be sure to tell us about yourself, your experience, and most importantly, what most interests you about this opportunity. Thank you Phyllis Webstad for your courage to speak the truth in the House of Commons regarding a National Day of Truth and Reconciliation as a federal holiday! (Jump to 16:00 if you want to hear her speak). What is forgotten is often repeated. Orange Shirt Day gives Canadians an opportunity to learn about and to teach the true history. This day acknowledges what happened to us, as children, was horribly wrong and it will never happen again. ~Phyllis Webstad Bill C-5, legi...slation that would make the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation a federal holiday. If passed, the new statutory holiday would be observed on September 30, which is also Orange Shirt Day a day to remember the legacy of residential schools in Canada. https://bit.ly/35FHu9f
