Listen to your heart, he said. I hear it in my womb, I said. What do you hear?... I hear the screams. I dropped out of Kindergarten. Shy, sensitive, empathic me couldn’t do this world. . Welcome to all the new faces here, I thought I’d do an intro so we can get to know each other better. My spirit name, Healing Rainbow Woman, was gifted to me by my grandfather who recently passed. I believe that he is now able to teach me what his human self couldn’t. In spirit, he is a true elder for me. I am from the Crane Clan + identify with my maternal lineage, from Neyaashiinigmiing. My father is from Serpent River. Through my ancestors, many places speak to me a...nd my mother taught me the power that land has to inform us and our remembering. I am a proud mama to 2 boys. They are the reason that I wrote the letter to White Women. When I started to see intergenerational trauma being expressed through them, I knew that I needed to speak up. For me, the trauma stops here and I believe they are here to shine in our wisdom. I am the gateway for that. I dream of being on a stage. For the past few years, I quieted that dream in my heart. I didn’t see anyone that looked like me on those stages + I wondered how I would ever get there. My dreams are starting to reveal themselves in miraculous ways. I am an eternal optimist, love to laugh, dance and sing. One of the ways my soul expresses itself is when I play the piano. It heals me. I had a private practice for 15 years doing medicine work through homeopathy, ceremony + healing. Recently I stepped away to create a sacred online space where I could serve more and reach more people. I believe that we all have the power to heal ourselves. I have been healing myself from Lupus for the past 25 years. I have experienced extreme pain + extreme love. Compassion has been the key to my healing. I have seen the miracles that flow through us. Anything is possible. I believe that my medicine ways can help to remind you of your own. I believe that your ancestors held wisdom, ceremony + ritual that your blood and bones remember. I am Anishinaabe with Ancestors from different parts of what we now call Ontario. Years ago, a dear mentor gifted me a book about finding my voice. The last few years, I finally grew into it. . Hand me a mic and I will always sing with you. Dance parties bring me great joy! . I value reciprocity, kindness and depth. Sometimes I dream of going back to the Stars as it feels easier there. . I’ve been practicing Medicine Work in different forms for the last two decades. My path with living with Lupus has guided me to many places of holding deeper compassion and while I not be cured I believe I have healed. . I used to think it was because rainbows came out of my hands when I did healing but now I know it’s because I am meant to be a bridge of two worlds. . This is not a 9 year old girl from some other country, this is in Canada, right now. Bee is living in a hotel in Ontario because her entire community has been evacuated. The water coming from their taps is contaminated. Her entire life the water in her community has been contaminated. Her grandparents have been living this way for 25 years. 25 years. I know you are busy and we all have a lot of things to be concerned about. I know we can’t change this today. But I want to know if you can take a minute to let Bee, her family, her friends, her community and the 60 other Indigenous communities in Canada living in this same situation know that they are not ghosts. It used to hit me. A deep calling to go inwards. And I would fight it. Label it a dark night of the soul. . Little did I know it was Spirit Bear calling me. In my mentorship groups and circles, I often speak about the quiet work. The deep and wide work. The work that looks like gentle seed planting yet creates thick and resilient roots. It’s the work of the Spirit. The Dreamer. The Healer. Sometimes Medicine Work is quiet, unseen. Sometimes the most magical work happens in the void. I have learned that being present with this ceremonial space creates mystical, miraculous transformation.... Healing work is a commitment, and on the other side, there is so much beauty that meets us. When we take responsibility to move through our journey with presence, reflection and release, our lives become filled with purpose, synchronicity and love. That what happens when you dig through the soil to find your roots. You will see that your power was always there, your medicine was always valuable and your transformation was waiting for you.
