Alberta reported an estimated 1,100 new cases (300 new variant cases) of COVID-19 on Friday, more than 50% higher than the 717 confirmed a week ago. The last time Alberta reported more than 1,000 cases in one day was Jan. 6, with 1,123. Premier Jason Kenney and Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw have pleaded Albertans to continue following public health restrictions over the Easter long weekend. Please make the safest choices you can this weekend, in everything you do. I ask all Albertans to strictly abide by restrictions & public health measure so we can slow transmission.
