Victoria Fire Department is on scene of a dumpster fire in the parking lot of the Victoria Buzz offices. It is contained and under investigation.

Oscar Update Over the last week we have kept Oscar to a fairly restricted life. We had the confirmation that we didn't want with respect to his internal injuries. Not all bad, all his injuries will heal and he will recover, eventually. The injury to his chest revealed that there was moderate alveolar damage and subsequent high risk of intra-pulmonary bleeding and possible pneumonia to his left lung. At this point we must continue to closely watch his breathing and observe his... lung sounds to see if there are any changes. His skeletal injuries are a bit of a mixed bag. Bottom line, Oscar will need major pelvic surgery to replace both hips. The radiographs taken last week revealed that he has moderate arthritis in both hips. Oscar has lead a very active lifestyle and never shown signs of this so we had no idea that he developed Arthritis. As a result of the fight, when he was tackled and pounced the weight and force applied tore apart the connective tissue that was supporting his hips. This also tore apart the acetabulum on his left side so significantly that the femoral head can not actually sit within it, and similarly so on the right side, however not as significant. Had he not been in a fight, he would have been able to continue to function uninterrupted until signs and symptoms of his arthritis became apparent. Unfortunately due to the attack, there is no way he will recover unless we use a surgical interventions. It has been reccomend that he have both hips replaced as soon as possible. Over the weekend, Oscar's pain became uncontrolled despite him being on a very regulated pain mamangment program and we had to add another pain med to his daily course of treatment. This med has him fairly dopped up and disoriented. So today, we will be staying home with Doggo to keep a close eye on him, ensure he has everything he needs as well as lots of love and cuddles. This means the Sidney Station will remain closed all week while we ensure Oscar is comfortable

There is an ongoing unconfirmed shooter situation at Vancouver International Airport. All routes in and out of Richmond have been closed. More to come as it develops.

Duncan BC - May 8, a Cougar attempted to grab a person by the hand and drag them at the work out area of the Cowichan Sportsplex. The victim is ok however she is voicing her concerns and asking people to stay vigilant when using the facility. We dug into this a bit and have confirmation that this was a legitimate Cougar incident. It has been reported to the facility and the RCMP.

It's a terrifying thought that most of the Lochside Road is an active bike and pedestrian route.

CVSE has positioned units on either side of the Malahat and are actively turing those without winter tires or are traveling for non-essential reasons.

Currently the Cowichan Valley is entirely dark and snow is falling hard. Please try to remain indoors and stay off the roads unless you need to travel. Driving conditions are hazardous enough for emergency service to be taking the following actions. The RCMP is shutting down both southbound lanes on the Trans-Canada at Wilson Road because drivers can't get up the hill, as well as both Northbound lanes at Bench Road because of slippery conditions.... RCMP say the best way to get south of Duncan is to take Tzouhalem Road all the way around to Cowichan Bay. However, Cowichan Bay Road, near the intersection with Tzouhalem Road is flooding.
