I just want to do things my way. Not in the control the world kind of way - but in how I choose to live my life and build my career. My way means it has to feel right - right in my gut.... When I listen to my gut I'm at my healthiest - physically, mentally, and emotionally - even financially. But holy shit there is a lot of noise out there. It can drown out what it is I really need and shake my confidence. I know it's more about the tuning in rather than the tuning out. I also know it's important to get to the root cause - the assumptions, the limiting beliefs, the judgement. I've been shouting about that from rooftops for years. But sometimes you just need to stop spending time on what makes you feel shitty. And trying to build my business online (right now!) makes me feel shitty. It feels like the hustle that I abhor (I was just going to use the word hate to make it more Insta friendly but that's the point I'm trying to make...see how this space can make you question and contort yourself?). Sure I can outsource and build tech systems, I can even show you how to do it. But I don't want to. The main reason - it just doesn't feel right to me - right in my gut. I used to love to hum along on Insta and look at all the pretty pictures of home design, floral arrangements, thrift accounts and of course if you know me - swimming pools. Now I feel like I'm part of an incestuous pool of 'grammers who all earnestly like and comment on each others posts to beat the algorithm, #bossbabe each other, and (fingerscrossed) build relationships and (fingerscrossed) attract clients. That of course leads to all the ads that keep telling me how I can build email lists and sales funnels. Ugh. I'm in awe of those of you who thrive professionally in this space. You're really good at your job (which I is one of the highest compliments someone can give me). I can tell you really love it. I don't. Insta has become a place I avoid rather than where I go to escape and feel inspired. It makes me feel like I'm farther away from the work that I love to do - and that is to come up with awesome ideas and solutions, and help people shine. Well that was a bit of a rant wasn't it?!? So now what? No I'm not quitting social media - I'm just going to trust my gut more...and do it my way. It has to be fun, meaningful and bring me joy. Hopefully it does the same for you. [this is the part where I'm supposed to tell you that I can help you find those same things in your life and career]. Oye! #takingmyownadvice #doyou #intuition #saynotothehustle #findthejoy

This is one of my fave grounding exercises - great with kids and people who think deep breathing is weird. A simple way to get yourself back into the present. I shared it today with a great group of business leaders. Thank you Fredericton Chamber of Commerce for the opportunity to talk your members about 'Taking Care of Yourself So You Can Take Care of Business.' ps - keep this puppy in your back pocket!... #groundingexercise #anxiety #ruminating #chillout #coach #therapy #takingcareofbusineess #mindfulness #getpresent
