First week back to work and I’m feeling energized and happy to be doing what I do best, using my manual therapy training in service to those in need in my community. This sped up routine of sanitation post treatment is not new for me and many other RMTs. In order to provide a safe and clean treatment area I always do the following (and have been since 2007 ): I continue to wash/disinfect all materials used used during treatment. I continue to disinfect my treatment table and... area (including chairs, stools, door handles, light switches and stair railings.) I now wear masks while doing it! Lastly, that green mat on my table is a non-porous yoga mat, not a table warmer or pad made from a fabric. I was once told by a professor of mine, ‘we simply want to know if you can follow the rules’ (in terms of assignments requirements). So I am applying my rule following to our new treatment requirements! #followtherules #protectyourselfandothers #rmt #safetyfirst #backtoworkCOVIDstyles See more

Hello everyone, I am writing this to outline changes that will be happening with my manual therapy practice at the end of 2020. As of January 1, 2021, I will be working exclusively out of my newly built clinic located at 591 Star Lake Rd., Seguin, Ontario. ... In 2015, I was fortunate to connect with Dolly Meadowcroft, who graciously took me on as a therapist and offered me room to work and build my clientele. For the next year we worked side-by-side treating clients out of the main floor of her home, until Dolly and her husband announced they were expecting their first child. We soon moved our practices to 6 William Street in Parry Sound and started the clinic known today as Cottage Country Massage & Wellness! I have always felt privileged to have been a founding therapist at this clinic. Dolly and her clinic allowed me to grow my connections with the community and meet many wonderful people, many of whom I now consider dear friends. In 2018 my husband and I began the process of designing our new home in Seguin, Ontario. This process allowed my creativity to run wild in terms of creating my very own clinic space. After 13 years of renting treatment space, I have chosen to move and work exclusively from this new space as of January 1, 2021. (591 Star Lake Rd., Seguin) This new space will allow me to offer more variety in my schedule which will include earlier and later treatment time options. If you have appointments booked into 2021 in Parry Sound, I will be connecting with you to figure out a workable option moving forward. Please do not hesitate to connect with me if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your continued support during this transitional time. Yours very truly, Megan

"Urban dwellers should avoid heading to rural properties, as these places have less capacity to manage COVID-19," Dr. Theresa Tam said at a press conference in Ottawa. Please do not rush out to your cottages in the midst of this pandemic. Our small communities can barely handle the local populations that live here all year.... Consider the impact of your actions!

NO SHOW FEES FOR 2020. Unfortunately, during the last few months there has been and increase in 'No Shows' for scheduled appointments. This means I have not received indication a client may not be planning to make their schedule appt, despite having sent reminders.... These type of missed appts do not allow me time to connect with those people on my waitlist to fill the spot. In an effort to be fair to everyone as of January 1, 2020, missed appts (without notification), are subject to the full fee of their scheduled appt, prior to receiving further treatment. To avoid being charged this fee, text message/call (705-203-0604), email ([email protected]) or advanced cancellation from the online reminder is all that is required. Thank you for understanding. Megan

I was recently asked how to describe Osteopathy, here is my understanding... You can say, osteopathy is a study of how all the elements/systems in the body relate directly and indirectly to each other. We believe everything needed to sustain health is already within the body and it travels in the fluids.... That knowledge allows an Osteopath a better idea of what might be in the way of the bodys circulation. When the flow of the body is slowed or blocked it means areas cant drain, and therefore cant be supplied (nutrition, oxygen, communication etc). Think, kink in the hose! An osteopath is trained to be able to pick up on these changes in the tissue and their job is to locate where the blocked area is, regardless of where the symptoms are. After these blocks are removed/resolved the natural flow can return, which is believed to be the key to self-regulation/healing. Does that help?

Please support Registered Massage Therapists in their pursuit of no longer charging HST like other health care providers (chiropractic, Physio therapy, naturopathic). Massage therapy is not a luxury, it is health care!

Osteopathic Update: Today I was informed that due to the #CanadaPost strike my application to the Osteopathic Association of Ontario, was not received until this week (although it was mailed the 2nd week of November). Unfortunately that means I will not be receiving my Osteopathic billing number/licence until the end of January 2019. As you can imagine I am disappointed about this delay. The good news is I remain licensed as an RMT.... I apologize for this delay. Looking forward to a wondering upcoming year in 2019! Please DM me with any questions or concerns re: this or other matters. Enjoy the holidays! Megan See more

This is what Osteopathic manual practitioners feel for during cranial sacral work. Based on these movements, we can feel dysfunction and assist the body in resolving it for better function of the entire body. Cool eh?
