Is your biggest fear on your wedding day having your photo taken? I get it. We’ve grown up being posed awkwardly and gotten pictures back that just show the skin suit we’re in and nothing more. But let me share this image with you - the image that changed the view of my body, and my approach with my business. These shots were taken by these kiddos dad while we were at the lake and my immediate reaction was EEEKK! Look at my rolls and non bikini body and HUGE NOSE! Yuck!... Then I vowed to not look at them ever again. However, I couldn’t stop thinking about how cute the moments were. If I let my insecurities surrounding my body image stop me, I wouldn’t be able to be fully present in photos. I wouldn’t be able to look back on certain parts of my life.(Like this one from nearly 4 years ago!) How many of you ONLY have selfies (if that!) of themselves because that’s what you’re comfortable with? In years to come will I love how squishy my tummy looks in this shot? Probably not. But its about more than that! It’s about capturing a moment and the essence of my connection with this lovely family. That’s what I would be missing out on if I let my insecurities delete these photos or not even allow myself to be in front of the lens in the first place. Be present in photographs.
