Kind words like this from clients make my heart so happy and remind me why I’m a photographer. I can’t wait to cashew photos from their surprise proposal! Megan was referred to me by another photographer, after seeing her portfolio it was hard not to want to go ahead and trust her with my special moment. I decided to do a surprise marriage proposal, so she took her time to help me plan it out, design it and execute it when the time came. The way she was so understanding, willing to help and offered her insight in the most respectful way made me feel amazing. There is no one else I would have rather spent my time and money with than Megan. Also the pictures were absolutely amazing and made my idea of how I wanted the pictures to come, really appear in actuality. Her professionalism and photography skills are 10/10. Thank you Megan.

The news of the latest lockdown has hit me harder than expected. With the news came word from our roommate that he had come in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID (as well as news that Adrian has a herniated disk and not sciatica). So we’ve quarantined until he can get tested. I took the long weekend off social media to sit with my thoughts a bit and also to try to forget the world for a little while. Adrian and I did some chores, played games, ate good food, w...atched movies and I finished the book I was working through. As a small business owner (and a human) I’m feeling really discouraged. The postponements and unfortunately cancelations are slowing finding their way to my inbox. I have two sessions to edit and my taxes to file and then I’m going to be taking some time off. I’ll still be checking my emails and message but less frequently. I’ll come on here to post occasionally but I just can’t go about posting my regularly scheduled content and pretending that I’m okay with this lockdown when big stores get to stay open. I’m all for doing what’s necessary to keep everyone safe and I’m not going to work when I could get fined so I’m just going to help Adrian with our condo renovation and lay low for bit. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who is having to change their wedding plans or worse. See more

I witnessed a lot of this in 2020. It felt sort of surreal to be apart of weddings / elopements that sometimes even parents couldn’t attend. I got to sign my name as an official witness on a marriage licence at one elopement. It’s been an honour. It will always be an honour. The one thing that shone through all the darkness that this past year brought was love. Love is the one thing that isn’t cancelled. I hope that this coming year has less new cases and less restrictions. I hope hope that couples decide to get married anyway even if it’s only allowed to be the two of them, the officiant and their photographer.

Back in the office today and ready to get back to work! I love the idea of personalized suits! Adrian had his suit custom made and personalized for our wedding too!

I think the groom and groomsmen often get overlooked at weddings. But this group was so stylist and they had a lot of really great suggestions for posing!

Happy new year! I’ve thought a lot about some goals I want to set for 2021 and although a lot of them are super ambitious and business related the ones that matter the most are the ones that involve taking better care of myself and being more accepting of myself, learning to rest better, moving my body, being kind and sweet and compassionate. Because having all the ambition in the world won’t help my soul feel free or make my heart happy. What are your goals for this new year?

We’re going on a little road trip to visit @kaitlyntl today! And spending the weekend away with family!

This year was difficult. Living in a construction zone and then trying to fit everything we need into a tiny room we’re renting from friends while we started an other renovation. Moving. Having 95% of my weddings postponed. Being terrified that COVID would ruin the market and we wouldn’t be able to sell. Adjusting to married life. Losing friends. Fighting personal battles of anxiety and depression magnified by COVID. My hair falling out due to stress or a thyroid issue (still... need to get blood work but I’m afraid of needles). These are just a few of the things we faced. And yet we celebrated so many victories! We’re closer than ever as a couple. We completed our first renovation and sold our first home (condo) and set a record price for our building. We bought our second home (condo) and started renovating again. I upgraded all of my equipment thanks to Adrian and the house sale. And spent a lot of time improving my business and spending time with our parents. This year has been a lot to handle but we handled it together and that’s all I can really ask for and all I really need. We’re ending this year victorious See more

My top 9 2020! 24.6k likes on my photos!! I know this number should make me happy but I was disappointed. If I’m being completely honest it never feels like enough. I never feel like I’m doing enough even though I’m sitting here brainstorming and overthinking about marketing and what I can do to continue to reach my dream clients when I should be enjoying the last few days of my vacation. I’m so thankful for all of my growth this year and I’m thankful for some time off to rest but I’m ready for more. As this year comes to an end and I think about my goals for next year I’m so grateful for all of my clients who’ve gotten me to where I am! I’ll probably do some more reflecting tomorrow!

My favourite place to be during the holidays and at anytime the weather is even the slightest bit chilly is beside a fireplace either reading or playing board games! I know this one isn’t real but it’s definitely my favourite fireplace to look at! I’m so excited for the weddings I get to shoot here in the future!

Some more winter mini’s!

The three days that I wasn’t on my phone we’re so good for my soul. I need to do that more often! I’m still on vacation but I’ll be checking in a little more frequently now!

This time of year is extra special for me because it’s when Adrian and I met/ reconnected. We knew of each other when I was in high school but never talked. Then I was the photographer for a Christmas photo booth at the church we both used to go to and our parents still attend. Adrian happened to be there for that Christmas Eve service. I asked him if he remembered me and we started talking. We talked for the rest of the evening and then he asked for my business card (clever ...guy). He later asked for my phone number and then asked me out. He slept through our first date (didn’t hear me ring the door bell) but I gave him a second chance. Our first date lasted 10 hours! We went skating, rock climbing, went to Kettleman’s and watched the first Lord of the Rings movie. And the rest is history! I was really hoping to take these photos outside in the snow but since it was raining on Christmas Day we decided to stay inside and try again later! See more

Proposal season is upon us! For those of you thinking about popping the question it’s never too early to reach out to your favourite vendors! You might even consider having your favourite photographer capture your proposal!! I still have availability for 2021 and 2022!

I’m challenging myself to having my phone on airplane mode Dec 24-26. I would say I’d shut it off completely but I know I’ll want to use it to take photos and videos and I have a really great playlist with Christmas classics that I know I’ll want to listen too! It’s important to be present with family and I find myself all to often scrolling aimlessly instead of engaging with the people in front of me. I also just need a break from feeling like my business will fall apart if I take a few days off! It won’t. All of my most important things have been checked off and I’ll be checking my email periodically.

Today I’m going to do some Christmas making with Adrian’s mom and then go get an other Christmas tree with my parents and sister! It’s beginning to feel a lot more like Christmas, even if there’s no snow yet! For me snow = Christmas! I’m also officially on vacation!! We hoped for snow but got rain instead! These two braved the cold like champs to get a few photos outside before the light was gone. Really REALLY hoping it’s snowing Dec 12th for my last wedding of the year and before the 25th so we have a white Christmas!
