When we hold back (and we have all done it), because we don’t think we have enough, or know enough, or are enough, we miss out on being part of what Is happening. Our no doesn’t stop what’s happening. It just stops us from being a part of what’s happening. It just stops us from making things happen. ... #idontthinkso #nofear #dontholdback #yourlimitslifted

"Why me?' keeps us stuck in circumstances we don't want. "Why not me?" opens the door to what we want or desire, regardless of circumstances. It's not the circumstances that make the difference. It's our outlook.... #WhyNotMe #idontthinkso #yourwholeheartedlife

I spent many years of my life motivated by fear, and sometimes anger. They powered my life, got me out of bed, formed my decisions, and were what I acted on. I discovered that the only reward when fear and anger are my motivation is relief. They can’t take me forward and they leave me depleted. But when I’m motivated by what’s in my heart, I’m energized and creative, and experience the reward of joy and satisfaction. ... What’s motivating you today? See more

What you focus on develops. It comes to life when we entertain it, imagine it, ponder it, fear it, discuss it. If you don’t want it to develop - change your focus. What are you focused on today? It’s developing. #focus ... #idontthinkso #yourwholeheartedlife See more

"I'm not who I used to be." This truth has helped me move forward when I've hesitated because of mistakes I've made in the past. How do you say yes again when your first yes ended in divorce?... How do you make a financial investment when your lost everything the first time? How do you start a new business when you've closed the doors on one? We've all made mistakes. Reminding yourself that you're not the same person you were can help you to step forward in confidence knowing that past experiences have prepared you for today's opportunities. #idontthinkso #yourwholeheartedlife #mindsetshift #moveahead #itsyourlife

We've all come from somewhere. But back is meant to be a point of reference, not a point of focus. Looking back too long keeps you going in circles instead of to your destination. If you want to be somewhere different tomorrow, you have to look ahead and see what you want to go. PS If the view in the rear view mirror is pretty tough and you don't know if you can ever have a different life, I have hope and help for you in my book I Don't Think So, available here https://buy.st...ripe.com/14kaFu6U13lngIUdQQ #idontthinkso #faceforward #lookahead #yourwholeheartedlife

If we aren't asking for what we need or want, we are probably not getting it. Why not? Because people aren't mind readers. They can't meet our needs if they don't know what they are. Even Jesus asked people, "What do you want me to do for you?" ... Ask and it will be given to you. It's a great day to ask. #JustAsk #yourwholeheartedlife

Celebrating Christmas doesn’t mean you’re forgetting your loved one who passed or your child who is not with you. It means you are being in the moment. Grief an...d celebration can coexist. Give yourself permission to still live even when you’re feeling loss. #takingthedreadoutofChristmas #day14 #grief #21dayofhope #idontthinkso #yourwholeheartedlife

We all cast our cares because we are unable to carry the weight of them. When we cast our cares on others (our kids, our spouse, social media), we create chaos and conflict because they can’t carry them either. We cast, but the weight comes right back, often with more weight added. When we cast our cares on the Lord, the weight lifts and we create calm and confidence in ourselves and those around us. ... If you’re feeling more chaos and conflict than calm and confidence, check your cast. Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you. It’s good to hear your voice. My cousin’s words on the other end of the phone caught me off guard. I choked up at the unexpected expression of her value for me. Not value for something I had done, or something I had given, or something I was good at but value for simply being me. Sometimes we forget that there is no one else like us. And at Christmas when it seems like we’re trying to find just the right gift for someone or cook just the right meal for someone, or follow... one of a growing list of traditions, we can forget that we are the gift. The most important gift is not something we do or buy or cook. It’s the gift of our presence. #takingthedreadoutofChristmas #day13 #bethegift #21dayofhope #idontthinkso #yourwholeheartedlife

When we insist on Christmas having to be a certain way, we shut the door on opportunities for it to PRESENT itself differently. My son has always loved Christmas and as a child, he would start working on me in October to put the tree up! When he was 11, he moved to another province with his father and it was really hard. When Christmas came the following year, I was still having a tough time. I was hurting and numb and going through the motions of life more than I was living.... One quiet Friday night, I decided to put up my Christmas tree. It was a bit early in the season and I was feeling anything but festive, but I just felt impressed to do it. On Saturday morning, my son arrived unexpectedly, and we had about six hours together. We decorated the tree, we played games, we drank hot chocolate and ate Christmas treats. It was the most perfect day we could have had. I didn't get to plan it - I just got to take the opportunity that presented itself. #takingthedreadoutofChristmas #day12 #opportunity #21dayofhope #idontthinkso #yourwholeheartedlife

The first Christmas had some challenges. Responding to a government ordered census, Joseph and a very pregnant teenaged Mary must leave their home and travel 65 miles on a donkey to Bethlehem. They weren’t allowed in anyone’s home. They weren’t able to be with family. They weren’t even able to be in an inn. When labor started, there was no doctor or midwife in attendance. And when Jesus was born, he was laid in a manger, not a nursery. Even though there were some spectacular... Christmas gifts, they arrived a couple of years late. And the family was forced to flee the country as refugees to preserve the life of Jesus from the wrath of King Herod. While the circumstances of the first Christmas do not diminish the pain that you may be going through this season, I hope that they encourage you that in the same way God led Joseph and Mary through the challenges of that first Christmas, He is also leading you. Sleeping in heavenly peace doesn’t mean an absence of challenges; it means confidence that God is with you and will lead you through. #takingthedreadoutofChristmas #day11 #trust #21daysofhope #idontthinkso #yourwholeheartedlife
