Spent some time decorating the house for Easter today. Even though we won’t be hosting any holiday festivities, we are finding small ways to bring joy and excitement into our house.

Reminiscing on this wedding with a view I’m getting so excited about the upcoming wedding season, and all the beauty that is sure to come with it. Now we just need all this snow to melt so we can enjoy all of our favourite summer views.

Anyone else getting sick of this white stuff? I’m in the beginning stages of planning a winter stylized shoot. I’m hoping that a pretty winter wonderland shoot will help get me excited about winter again

On Saturday, I got to help Nadeane and Darius celebrate their wedding day. It was the most beautiful day filled with so many sentimental moments.

I think every weddings needs a self serve caesar bar.

Imagine getting married here I got to head up to @tin_poppy today to check out their gorgeous space. They are the perfect spot for intimate weddings and elopements. It’s a spot every one must check out.

Here’s my last post in this get to know me series. I thought I would share a few random facts about me- Before kids, I was in school to become a social worker. After I had my boys, I knew I wanted to be my own boss and needed a career that was happier and more fun. My favourite component to a wedding is the flowers, but i know very few flower’s names. ... We just purchased the house that I grew up in and are moving in this month. I am so excited to live in a house that already has so many memories in it for me. I don’t like being in front of the camera so this photo series was out of my comfort zone, and it will probably be the last time you see a picture of me for the next while! Now get ready for some spam of the styled shoot I did yesterday because I’m obsessed with how it turned out!

To continue on with you getting to know me better, I wanted to tell you a bit about the job I do, and why I love it so dang much. I am the person that people hire and put their complete trust in the fact that I will make their wedding day amazing. I hold the responsibility of making any last minute decisions or changes. Having couples put that much trust in me is seriously the biggest compliment. ... I love my job because it is my creative outlet. Although I never used to consider myself a creative person, I totally do now. Anyone who knows me knows that I have to be totally organized, I have an extreme attention to detail and I live off of to-do lists so being able to use those skills for work is my absolute favourite.

I have yet to introduce myself on here for for those of you that don’t know me- Hi! I’m Melanie, or as most people know me, Mel. I love coffee, a good magazine, and having fresh flowers in the house always! I live in Salmon Arm with my husband, and 3 boys. I grew up here and we moved our family back 2 years ago because it is exactly where we wanted to raise our family. I love spending my days outdoors either hiking, gardening, or sipping cocktails on the patio. In the next few days I’m going to be spending some time telling you a bit more about me so we can get to know each other better. I’d love for you to tell me a bit about yourself too.

Exciting things are happening over here! Melanie Penner Wedding Coordination is now WPIC certified. I got to learn from some of the industry leaders and can’t wait to share all my knowledge with my clients.

Still working away on all the details before I launch my new website which should be up really soon. With my new website, I am also launching a new service. I will be available for consultations! After a weekend in Vancouver for the WPIC certification course, I am feeling more inspired than ever. Can’t wait for upcoming coffee dates, collaborations, and this year’s weddings.

Here are a few pictures from Michelle & Steve’s St.Patrick’s Day wedding. They had a beautiful ceremony at the Haney Heritage chapel in Salmon Arm, followed by a festive reception at the Field House. Thanks for allowing me to help plan and coordinate your special day.

As someone involved in the wedding industry, I personally love Valentine’s Day. It is usually a day that holds a special piece of a couple’s love story. Maybe you started dating on Valentine’s day, or it is when you first said I love you. I don’t think it has to be a cheesy day, filled with false hope, but an opportunity to tell your loved ones how much you care. Hope everyone has an amazing day filled with a little extra love.

I got my planner in the mail today so I’m starting to sketch out my upcoming months to ensure that my time before the busy wedding season doesn’t get away from me. It is important when planning a wedding to have a timeline not only for your wedding day but for the planning time leading up to it as well.
