How long have you been scrolling? Check in on what emotions you're feeling and try this 1 minute breathing exercise. Breathe in as the shape expands and breathe out as the shape contracts. Check in how you're feeling now. Did you notice any changes?... #mindfulness #breathe #counselling #psychotherapy #mentalhealth

Feeling drained after a therapy session is completely normal. You've completed a huge mental workout for your mind! It may be helpful to talk to your counsellor/therapist about how you are coping with this drained feeling. How you manage in between sessions is as important as the session itself. Introducing self care and coping skills can help you learn to manage your emotions. You deserve to feel and be well!

Depressed emotions are not in a person's control. This statement in the photo can invalidate the experience of someone with depression. "Just get over it," this says. We can all learn to manage and cope with our emotions, but we cannot stop them. Emotions demand to be experienced. Validate their emotions, "It sounds like you're feeling a lot right now, how are you managing?" We all need and want to be heard. Try this next time you have the opportunity and see if it helps guide your conversation!
