Hi! I’m Mel. I was born and raised in small town Armstrong, B.C. and always had a passion for a paint brush. In 2019 I completed professional training in the Fundamentals of Makeup in Beauty, Bridal, and Glamour by Missy Mackintosh. Now I express my art through makeup, with a goal to empower whoever sits in my chair. My business is based in the sunny Okanagan Valley, nestled among the vineyards, lakes and mountains. 2021!!! 2020 shocked all of us. April shutdown had me in a place where I didn’t think I’d ever be able to do makeup again. I was devastated and hopeless. Restrictions lifted and suddenly I was busier than I’ve ever been. We moved to a new place in May, 6 weeks later my boyfriend started a new job, and by August I was working 6 days a week between my full time job and being a freelance makeup artist. All of it blessing in disguise. All of it a lesson on balance, self worth..., and a reminder to be grateful. And I am JUST. SO. GRATEFUL!!! For the connections I’ve made in this journey, from photographers to clients, to mentors and friends. Grateful to have reached milestones, like getting published, during a time where it seemed the milestones would never come. Grateful for the opportunity to continually perfect my craft and do something creative that fills my cup and make people feel BEAUTIFUL. I’m manifesting this now.. 2021 will be a year of growth, opportunity, creativity, acquaintances becoming friends, and rolling with whatever life has in store. Hi It’s me, Mel! This is what I look like under my mask. Just focusing intently, usually laughing or asking you about yourself. It’s amazing to think I’ve had clients who haven’t seen my face. This photo was taken by @carouselstudios . It is an awesome photo. Yet, I’ll be honest when I say, I felt like a troll on this day. It shows in this photo. I’m working on being easier on myself and practising self love, just like I tell my clients to. ... In any case, this day wasn’t even about me, it was about my friend Julie. And on your day it won’t be about me either, it will be about you. And I’ll always remind you that makeup is art, beauty is spirit.
