Melfort Fire & Rescue 25.06.2021

MFD responded on April 28th at 1:07 pm to a shed and barn on fire in the RM of Willow Creek. When crews arrived they discovered a shed fully involved with fire. Shortly after, it was discovered that the barn was fully involved inside as well. The fire quickly moved to the surrounding grass, field and corrals in the yard. Crews set up to protect the house and started to attack the fire. Gronlid FD, Kinistino FD and SASK Public Safety Agency (SPSA) were dispatched for mutual aid to assist with the fire due to its size, the wind conditions and the yards that were in danger. Crews worked to stop all forward progress and then worked backwards to extinguish all hot spots. The fire consumed 60,000 m2 of area. Thank you to all Gronlid FD, Kinistino FD, SASK Public Safety Agency (SPSA) and MFD members that responded!

It has been brought to our attention by some members of the public that they have been approached by telephone for donations for the MFD. This is a SCAM and we are NOT fundraising at this time! If anyone has been approached please message us and we will be in touch.

MFD responded on March 27/2021 at 1:44 pm to alarms ringing in the 500 block of Broadway ave N. When crews arrived it was unclear what area of the building had set off the alarm. Crews investigated the building but didn't discover anything that would have set the alarms off. It was determined that a generator test had been performed and that possibly could have set the alarm off. Crews reset the alarm panel to see if it would trip again and it didn't. Crews then terminated the call and returned to base. Thank you to all MFD members that responded!

MFD responded on November 26/2020 at 1:18 pm to a backhoe that slid into an embankment. When crews arrived the operator had exited the backhoe and was in a heated area of the construction site. A MFD member used a ladder to get to the patient and conducted a pre-screen of the patient. After being evaluated by EMS it was determined the patient was able to descend the ladder on his own. Crews set-up a ladder with a stable footing and better decent angle for the patient. Once the patient, EMS and MFD members were down from the construction site crews terminated the call and returned to base. Thank you to all EMS, RCMP and MFD members that responded!
