Hi, I’m Mélina (pronounced May-lina).My nearest and dearest call me Mey! I grew up in the hills of West Vancouver and am first generation Canadian. (My parents met in Vancouver after immigrating from Greece and Holland). I’m a mother to a 2 year old little girl, and my partner JJ and I have been together for almost 11 years! My journey in to photography began in 2010 and it was previously a part-time passion. I am now a full-time photographer and am honoured to capture the m...ost intimate moments of my clients - turned friends - lives! A little more about me: I love sports and dancing . Before I was pregnant with my daughter I was always on the soccer field or at @HarbourDanceCentre taking mostly hip hop. I love the mountains and am usually found skiing , snowboarding or hiking in them. I’m a certified group fitness instructor but I’ve put that on hold for the time being while I focus on photography. That said, fitness is life to me . My drink of choice is always an Americano Misto with a little bit of honey . Cheers. Pizza and sushi are a strong favourite in our house pizza usually wins . You’ll most likely catch me rolling around town on my bicycle with my daughter in the carrier seat . We explore most of Vancouver this way. Mrs. Doubtfire is one of my favourite movies - really anything with Robin Williams! My two favourite podcasters/entrepreneurs right now are @PatrickBetDavid of @Valuetainment and my business coach @JaiLong.co. I’m usually listening to one of these two while editing photos. I really can’t wait to see the whole world I definitely intend to travel more in my life and if I could pick up and choose a destination tomorrow (other than Greece or Holland to see family) it would be Spain . Men are what their mother’s made them - Ralph Waldo Emerson 8 short weeks ago I captured Lauren & Ben in some of their final weeks as a family of two. They have since welcomed baby B to the world and I can say from first hand experience they’ve transitioned into a family of three beautifully. Congratulations Taylors, and a very happy first Mother’s Day to Lauren!

Putting my foot down! Yesterday I needed a break from all devices. I came down with a terrible migraine in the middle of the night and it lasted all day so I spent most of the day... in bed. I am feeling much better today - so no worries about me - but yesterday I had to shut off. It was the first day since August that I turned off all my devices. It was the first day I didn't log in, make a connection, or consume myself with this digital world (I really couldn't look at a sc...reen)! What it made me realize is that breaks are okay. We need breaks to recharge and re-energize! Us creatives need breaks to be... well... creative! This said, taking a break as an entrepreneur is the scariest thing ever. When I used to work for someone else I had the flexibility of a sick day... it went something like this.. 'I'm not coming in today.' BAMO the end. ( I didn't do this often but if I needed it, it was there for me). When you work for yourself (and I am very new at this so perhaps some seasoned entrepreneurs have more experience you would like to share below regarding this topic) but I feel like I am letting my family down. Every day I am not working towards my goals is a day that I have to cross off as incomplete. But what I realized yesterday is that - I need breaks too. I'm no good to anyone if I don't take care of myself. I know this, but wasn't putting this into action. I am still learning the balance here. I am still learning how to trust this process and be the best artist and business woman I can be while taking care of myself and my family. It's all a learning process. Moving forward - I am recharged and excited to go take some photos of my girl in the snow today! I am excited to work towards my goals but in a way that puts less pressure on myself. I am so stoked to be doing this as my career and while my goals are big and mighty - I know that I need to take care of myself to make them happen! Auntie. The only other similar aged female that my daughter looks up to as a parent figure. Auntie is always there in a heartbeat. Auntie supports us at the drop of a hat. Auntie is smart, genuine & the life of the party. Lord knows she'll be the cool aunt picking up my girl from some party I know nothing about in the future! Thank you for all you do Amanda.
