Tai Chi, originally developed for self-defense, has evolved into a graceful form of exercise that's now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions including insomnia. Graceful, fluid motions that put minimal stress on muscles and joints, allowing you to do some exercise without a health risk. https://goodtimes.ca/tai-chi-can-improve-insomnia/

Times are tough. This year, make it your year to manage your stress successfully. Make it your year to be mindful. Make it your year to age backward with how much stress you do not allow to affect you. https://www.forbes.com/heal//expert-advice-to-stress-less/

I remain open! As an essential service for healthcare and wellness, RMTs continue to be operating. Appointments remain booked and I continue to book for future appointments. If you feel under the weather, I ask of you to please give me 24 hours notice to reschedule your appointment. I am busy and do have people on wait lists to get in sooner than later. ... Thank you for your continued love and support.

Meditation is the habitual process of training your mind to focus and redirect your thoughts. Meditation takes work. It’s an exercise that attempts to centre your mind, slow your thoughts, and focus. Much like anything, it takes time and practice. What matters is that you attempt it. When you can quiet your surroundings and mind, you may experience a reduction in stress and more mental clarity and focus. This mental clarity, focus and reduction in stress will translate to how you physically feel. The whole body works in harmony with itself. Give it a try! There are plenty of apps and YouTube videos available, no matter what your experience level.

The big holiday celebration of Christmas is behind us, but New Year’s Eve is still ahead. This week can still be a hectic and stressful one. Remember to breath deeply, take a moment of silence to yourself, do something that makes you happy and mitigate your stress levels.

Melissa DeCandido, RMT 16.10.2021

I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! Be safe, be happy and be surrounded by those you love.

As a mom, you’re at the front of the battle lines when it comes to your children. You carry them in your body, you birth them, you’re the number one person they run to for comfort. Undoubtedly, being a mom comes with its own challenges and stresses. Regular massages for moms isn’t a luxury (though it’s treated like one). It’s a necessity. Benefits from regular massages include a reduction for anxiety, a reduction in headaches, a reduction in body aches and pains and an increase in mental, physical and emotional health. It’s ok to put yourself first. You have a lot of responsibilities.

The holidays are stressful to most of us, and especially this year. Remember to take care of yourself through all this uncertainty. Mindfulness comes in many forms. Take a bath, read a book, meditate, exercise, bake, watch a few movies. Come get a massage. Do what you need to or want to do that will keep your mental and physical health in check. I am open over the holidays for the massage portion of your mindfulness. Give me a call to book.

No matter what you do this weekend, make sure it gives you peace.

It’s an easy thing to not pay attention to daily, but today it’s at the forefront of our minds; how truly blessed we are to live the lives we have because of the sacrifices of others. Today we pay our respects and ultimate gratitude to veterans who fought long and hard battles for us. Thank you to all of you that made Canada the way it is today.

With this month being Diabetes Awareness Month, it is important to acknowledge this disease and to take care of yourself. According to Diabetes Canada, "one in three Canadians has diabetes or prediabetes, and those at age 20 now face a 50 percent chance of developing the disease." It's so important to take care of yourself, especially these days. Let's bring awareness to this disease and do what we can to fight it.
