Today I LOVE my hair. For the first time in over 15 years. I fell in love with my hair today . At the age of 14, I Developed an eating disorder. I would starve myself of food from Monday - Friday. Then on the weekends, I would cave and eat Big Macs and Chicken Nuggets. Then on Monday I would feel overwhelmed with the shame and guilt. And I would be back to depriving myself of food. It was a vicious cycle that continued on and off for a few years. I tried every weight loss pi...ll out there. I was incredibly malnourished. And I started to lose the thick hair that I once had . Today I am 30lbs heavier then I was a year ago. There are a lot of things that I do not love about my body right now. BUT for the first time in 16 years. I LOVE my hair!!! It’s the longest and thickest I have ever had it - since I was 14. There is no magic pill or magic product that has helped my hair to become healthier, longer and thicker. I find it so incredibly frustrating that personal care products are a totally unregulated industry. The FDA only looks into these products when someone files a compliant. It took 127 people to file a compliant with the FDA about the scalp irritation and hair loss that they were experiencing with WEN hair products. We love using 100% plant based products with no fillers, synthetics or fragrances in our home. Dishwashing detergent is one of the worst! And most of those chemicals stay on your dishes afterwards. Then you put food on those dishes and eat off of them . When you know better, you do better. In our home we only use Young Living Thieves Dishwasher Powder. I also love to save money!! Because ALL YL products are ultra concentrated!! I discovered this great hack, which will tripl...e the size of your YL Thieves Dishwasher Powder. AND it will work even better. When I bought my first bag of YL Thieves Dishwasher Powder 2 years ago. My husband did not like it. He said it did not clean our dishes well enough. He also thought it was pretty expensive. With this hack, I was able to triple the amount. PLUS now it cleans our dishes even better! This hack works out to 15 cents a load!!! And it’s husband approved Recipe: Empty glass jar 1lb bag of Thieves Dishwasher Powder 1C. Washing Soda 1C. Baking Soda 1C. Citric Acid 1/2C. Table Salt (I used pink himalayan salt) 20 drops of EO (optional) Mix all the ingredients together in glass jar. Be carful to not have your face to close. Use 1 scoop or 1tbsp per load. Tip: If you are still noticing water spots on your dishes. Then you can make up a DIY Rinse aid. Which is 1 part Thieves Cleaner, to three parts Vinegar. Add 2TBSP of the DIY Rinse Aid to your Rinse Aid compartment. Or put it in a glass cup, right side up. On the top rack of your dishwasher.

I’m hoping I can start booking clients again end of May . So thankful that I do not work in a salon setting with other stylists. Its just me and my client . These extra safety precautions will be very easy! Besides wearing a mask. I usually do most of these sanitation protocols anyways.

Dearest Clients, This is Melody @ Melodic Wellness Studio. I hope this post is finding you happy and healthy. It has officially been one month since closing my studio. Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. I know this is probably about the time where the hair starts growing over the ears, the ends are feeling dry, the grey roots are starting to show?! I urge you all not to make any rash decisions!! If you are at your wits end and feeling the urge to pick up... the scissors here are some tips: -Ends of hair and fringe trims, use teeny tiny snips, millimeter at a time. Don’t go crazy with the scissors. Sweeping them to the side or twisting and pinning them back also work well. There are many YouTube/Pinterest tutorials out there for fringe trims or cleaning up the dry ends if you’re feeling the need. -As for colour, the sparkly greys are probably definately starting to show. Maybe this is the time to grow them out? If that sounds absurd, there are temporary root colour sprays you can use. Hats, headbands and scarves works well too. Ugh, trying times, it’s not easy, lol!! If you find yourself reaching for the box colour, start with the root touch up kit. Only colour the part line and around the face/hairline, the parts that are visible. If it doesn’t work out, there will be less to fix when we get back to the salon. Colour corrections take time and moola. Blondes and highlights: not a good idea to mess with. Darker roots are trending right now!! Perhaps a purple shampoo will suffice to eliminate the brassy tones. -Men and short hair clients. This will be an interesting time for you!! My advice would be to let it grow, try new ways of styling as it goes through its phases. If you really need to clean up the edges and around the ears, use sharp scissors, tiny snips at a time. Hair health...this is a great time to take a break from blowdryer and hot tools. Take some time to doctor up your hair with deep conditioners and treatments. Once you are back in the chair your hair will have a nice healthy canvas to work with. I hope these quick bits of info help.
