DO have regular hearing health checkups - just as you would for your eyes & teeth. DO maintain your hearing aids! cleaning, storage, wax-guard changing, and battery-charging are easy tasks. Bring your devices in periodically for professional clean and checks, too! DO try to optimize your communication environment with steps such as facing your conversation partner, sitting away from noise, choosing spots with good lighting (for lip-reading). DON’T ignore hearing issues. Hearing can change over time. Your hearing may not be as clear or understanding certain sounds seems harder than it used to be. DON’T tolerate excess noise. Limit your exposure and keep quality hearing protection on hand. DON’T hide hearing loss from loved ones. Family members also affected when someone has a hearing issue. Tackle it together. DON’T deny yourself compassion and patience. Adjusting to new hearing technology can take time and some fine-tuning

Phonak Starkey Unitron Signia In-the-Canal This type of hearing aid fits entirely in the ear canal, making it a discreet option. It’s available for many types of hearing loss and can be custom-molded to your unique ear shape, ensuring it stays put even when you’re on the move. In-the-Ear This hearing aid type sits in your ear canal and part of your external ear. It’s the easiest style to remove, and it can help a diverse range of people thanks to the combination of size, customizable switches, and color options. Receiver-in-the-Canal With a lightweight feel and flexible fit, this style; this is the most popular. The microphone, amplifier, processor, and battery all sit in a small case that rests behind the ear, delivering sound to the inner ear via a tiny speaker that stays in the ear canal. Behind-the-Ear This style houses the speaker and microphone inside a shell that sits snugly on the ear while sound travels into the ear canal via acoustic tubing. Invisible-in-the-Canal This type of hearing aid offers virtual invisibility and clarity in a tiny device that sits even deeper in the ear canal. First of all, we want to give a big THANK YOU to all of our amazing clients for staying home to help flatten the curve. On April 30th, Premier Jason Kennedy announced that as early as May 4th some non-urgent services such as audiology can re-open. Even though this is very exciting news, here at Melody Hearing, your safety, health, and well-being are our top priorities. Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Hinshaw states that we must continue to social distance ourselves, cont...inue to wash our hands, and stay home when you have any symptoms such as cough, fever, runny nose, sore throat or difficulty breathing. We are excited to be opening our doors and will do so soon. This extra time will allow us to make sure we have enough personal protective equipment, hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies for the clinic. We will also be reducing how many clients we will be seeing to ensure proper physical distancing between patients and staff in the clinic. This will reduce the amount of traffic and potential exposure to our clients. For those clients who see us in person, please do NOT attend the clinic if any of the following applies: You have been or suspect of having been exposed to COVID-19 You have returned from travel outside of Canada in the last 14 days You or anyone else in your close social circle are ill You are immuno-suppressed Your health and safety are paramount, so Melody Hearing is putting the following guidelines in place: If you have access to a mask, we ask that you consider wearing one Please sanitize hands upon entry Please physical distance to 2 meters Please wait in your car until start of appointment We hope you all understand, and we appreciate your patience with us as we navigate through this together.
