It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Roy Doonanco of Bonnyville, Alberta on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at the age of 71 years. A pillar of the community, Roy's imprint on the Bonnyville region is undeniable. He served as the M.D. of Bonnyville's Chief Administrative Officer for more than 30 years and held prominent roles with the local school board as well as the Bonnyville Health Foundation. Regardless of the table he sat, Roy's leadership styl...e echoed his personality - calm, considerate and compassionate. Wisdom and reason always factored into his decision-making and he earned the respect of both his peers and his staff for his ability to navigate the roughest of waters. Roy was passionate about classic cars, current events, politics and most importantly - his family. Following his retirement, he spent much of his time traveling and exploring with his wife, Pat, and following the pursuits of his 5 grandchildren. Roy is lovingly survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Doonanco; three children: Laurie (Jacques) Plouffe of Edmonton, AB, Jaclyn (Scott) Cameron of Bonnyville, AB, Jonathan Doonanco of Bonnyville, AB; five grandchildren: Harlee, Cali, Summer, Annika, Everett; four siblings: Marina Chrapko of Edmonton, AB, Frances (Victor) Kozak of Edmonton, AB, Johnnie (Mary) Doonanco of Glendon, AB, Glenn (Louise) Doonanco of Fort McMurray, AB; two sisters-in-law: Elaine Doonanco of Glendon, AB, Marilyne (Barry) Kissel of Canmore, AB.
