Words from our resident Wine Sommelier, Hilary Purvis: MeMe’s Holiday Appetizers Specials have me ready to plan a nice little party for two, with most of the hard work, is already done for me. And, since I love starting at a party with bubbles, here’s what we’ll be toasting with...... Cono Sur Sparkling Pinot Noir Rose has hints of ripe berry fruit and great acidity that pairs well with the wonderful assortment of the Premium Holiday Platter. I also love the pretty soft pink hues, which makes me just want to put on a party dress and celebrate! Something tells me that hubby will be in his pj’s and quite content to chill. Either way, this is a great wine to enjoy. Blu Giovello Prosecco...a nice approachable sparkler from Italy. Soft hints of refreshing peach, pear, and honey make this a great match for the assorted Seafood Menu selection. Our featured dinner this week is a Baked Salmon on a bed of Leeks & Organic Shiitake Mushrooms, Green Beans Almondine & Mini Roasted Potatoes, which is also gluten-free and available for $16.50. Words from our resident Wine Sommelier, Hilary Purvis: As I’m getting ready for making our traditional turkey Christmas dinner with all the fixings, it’s nice to have a nice light dinner ready during prep week. I was looking forward to MeMe’s Baked Salmon this week and have a nice... flavour-packed wine chilling Flat Rock Cellars Twisted White. A bit sweet on its own but truly delightful with the combination of salmon, garlicky leeks with green beans, and the tasty shiitakes, which really shine with the Twisted. If you’d prefer a red, it needs to be light so that it doesn’t clash with the delicate Salmon. Mezzacorono Pinot Noir has a subtle earthiness that works well with this dish and adds a bit of red fruit for extra flavour. On sale for only $11.95, there’s a good reason that many wine critics consistently give this wine a thumbs up.

With the colder weather, it’s harder to see who is under all the layers and mask. MeMe’s owner, Meredith Hagen, is getting creative with her name tag.

Our featured dinner this week is a Korean Sesame Chicken, Vegetable Fried Rice & Kung Pao Brussel Sprouts (GF) $16.00 Words from our resident Wine Sommelier, Hilary Purvis: When Meredith Hagen told me what this week’s special was, both of our eyes lit up when I suggested Riesling. After a quick trek to our local LCBO, we landed on one of my favourites from Cave Springs in Niagara: the 2018 Cave Springs Riesling. ... The slightly sweet, bright flavours are a great match for the yummy slightly spicy, slightly sweet flavours in the Korean chicken. The zing of the wine brings out the great combinations of flavours in this delicious dish. I definitely know what’s on my meal plan this week. Who’s joining me?
