With our first significant snow fall of the season in the history books, please remember to have a safe cleared path to your house so we can make it to you in an emergency. Please help your community and think of the elderly that may need a hand.

Symptoms of a cold, the flu and COVID-19 can be similar. The only way to know if you have COVID-19 is to get tested. If you have symptoms, stay home and contact a COVID-19 assessment centre to book an appointment to be tested: https://www.swpublichealth.ca/gettested.

Effective Monday, November 23 at 12:01 am, the Southwestern Public Health region will move from the Yellow-Protect tier into the Orange-Restrict tier of the... Provincial Keeping Ontario Safe and Open Framework. This decision was made to further protect our community before the COVID-19 situation becomes unmanageable. At this stage, it is critical that each individual improves their efforts to help our whole community stay safe. It is up to each of us to get us back to Green. Today, 102 years ago the guns fell silent. 75 years ago Europe was free again. 67 years ago Korea was divided in two and a ceasefire was put in place. Multiple UN and NATO missions later, 12 years in Afghanistan coming to an end in 2014, and countless domestic operations, the Canadian military and its allies have stood to protect our freedoms. While this year will see minimal numbers at services, we know that each and everyone of you will be remembering in your own special ways. Take a moment to think of all the citizens of Canada that have and continue to stand up for what is right and offer their lives to defend and serve Canada with pride. Lest We Forget, We Will Remember Them.

Veteran’s Week is celebrated each year from the 5th to the 11th of November. It is a week where we recognize the sacrifices made by brave Canadians who served i...n the First and Second World Wars, in Korean in the Persian Gulf and Afghanistan and in other military efforts over the years. This year’s theme set out by the Government of Canada is marking the 75th anniversaries of the Liberation of the Netherlands, Victory in Europe Day and the Victory over Japan Day and the end of the Second World War. Almost 175,000 Canadian soldiers were part of the months-long mission to restore peace and liberty in the Netherlands, Asia and the Pacific. More than 10,000 Canadians fought in Allied effort to defeat Japan and more than one million Canadians fought in the Second World War with more than 45,00 sacrificing their lives in the fight of tyranny and oppression. Throughout this week of remembrance, I encourage all residents of #EML and Canadians to wear a poppy in remembrance and reflect on the sacrifices that our soldiers and veterans have made for Canada. Although in-person Remembrance Day ceremonies will be different this yearCanadians are able to take part in virtual commemorative activities and reflections. We will remember them. #CanadaRemembers

MOST Team Continues to Evolve The St. Thomas Police Service Mobile Outreach Support Team would like to introduce their new clinician. Please join us in welcomi...ng Karolina! Karolina joins our team to fill a void left after former clinician Yvonne moved on to a new opportunity last month. We look forward to a new and exciting chapter with Karolina and Brianne building upon the great success our CMHA response team has in support of vulnerable individuals in the community along with Liaison Officer PC Jeremy Linker. This winter, the MOST team will be able to enhance their support to the vulnerable population by supplying some basic immediate needs in the form of gift cards and vouchers. The Team will supply gift cards in small denominations that will allow individuals to purchase food, basic medicine, personal care products, hand warmers or a hot cup of coffee. The team will decide when and in what amounts the cards are to be distributed on an individual at need basis. The funding to buy the supplies was made possible by an application made to the Civil Remedies Grant which makes the MOST team possible. Initially the money was budgeted for ongoing training however impacts of Covid 19 have resulted in the cancellation of several training opportunities leaving the team with a small surplus in their budget which they felt would best be used to support our most vulnerable who struggle to support themselves.

Medavie EMS Elgin (MEMSEO) in Ontario ensured their commitment to patient safety by quickly dedicating a full-time individual to manage COVID-19 information and... work closely with provincial infectious control specialists and public health experts. A short-term contract logistics person was also hired to assist with additional cleaning and sanitization procedures. Through a partnership with local health care professionals and hospitals, a manager was qualified to conduct COVID-19 specimen collection to support rapid and barrier free access to assessment and testing for all health care employees. This allowed for limited time spent in isolation and further minimized the risk of transmission. By working together with their provincial partners in Perth and Chatham-Kent, the Ontario companies were able to protect patients and employees from unnecessary spread of COVID-19. #CPSW2020 #HeartOurHealthCareWorkers

Over the years we have seen many forms of expressing thanks, but this is a first. We are honoured to have two fish join our ranks after being named for the two paramedics that helped a patient experiencing an allergic reaction.
