This week our thoughts and prayers are with our former IVEPer Sharon Dass, who lost her father to COVID-19 last week. Sharon served at our Home from Fall of 2018 to Fall of 2019. She, her father, and her immediate family have all contracted COVID-19; it reminds us that we are all in this together. #together #covid19 #prayers #community

The last Sunday of the church year is before us, a time to remember those that have passed away. A time to behold and to be still, to feel the tension we are in, and to release that tension. We are suspended between in times like these and there is a time for everything. We feel the need to gather and speak up. We feel the need to come together to mourn that which we have lost. In times like these we have learned to do both, to speak up and to gather as a community in ne...w ways. In times like these, as a faith-based elder care home, we have strived to provide the best care for our residents, looking after their spiritual, physical, and socioemotional health. Our best care partners have always been the family and friends of our residents and you continue to be our best partners. You have walked with us through these difficult months, often speaking words of encouragement and love while you were losing your beloved mother, father, sister, brother, family member, or friend. We really appreciate you; thank you for trusting us. We said goodbye together, remembering that there is a time for everything: shedding tears at the door, gathering in parking lots, praying around the bedside, sharing memories old and new. We felt the common bond, one of love for those who are passing, one of a community of faith and love which binds us together beyond the point of parting. In times like these we are reminded that while there is a time for everything, nothing can come between us and the love of God. Because we live out of the promise: Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. (Isaiah 43:19) May we walk into this new church year encouraged and strengthened by God’s work and by one another. Rev. Cathrin van Sintern-Dick, LMH Chaplain https://www.youtube.com/watch
