The reason we can find home in this world is not because we are prudent enough to learn from the home construction plans of previous generations, nor is it because we are resourceful enough to create a home for ourselves (although there is certainly a place for looking to the past and being resourceful). Ultimately, we can find home in this world because in our search for home, we meet the God who is the gracious giver of home. (one another, pronounced al-lay’-lone) is one of the most familiar Greek words in the New Testament, occurring one hundred times; fifty-nine of these occurrences are commands. Menno residents become familiar with the one another logic of thinking and living. The command prohibiting complaining against one another (James 4:11, 5:9) saves us from destructive interpersonal dynamics, and the command to speak truth to one another in love (Ephesians 4:25) spares us f...rom resentful smoldering or brash confrontations. Finally, living in close quarters with others gives us plenty of opportunities tobear with and forgive one another (Colossians 3:13) by remembering that there are others in the community who probably find it difficult to bear with us and to forgive us! - From Home Together by Thomas Bergen. We are proud to announce the release of Home Together. Written by Thomas Bergen (a former Residence Coordinator), this book gives a compelling account of how the Menno Simons Centre, a Christian student residence, has engaged emerging adults in a community of discipleship and belonging for over thirty years. Stay tuned as we share more from the book in the coming weeks as we look forward to the Virtual Book Launch on October 24!
