CALL FOR POSTER ABSTRACTS Parkwood Institute Research Day - Virtual Moving Toward Better Health Thursday, April 22nd, 2021... The deadline for submissions is February 28, 2021. On behalf of the Parkwood Institute Research (PIR) Steering Committee we are pleased to invite you to submit an abstract for poster presentations at the 5th Annual Parkwood Institute Research Day, to take place virtually on Thursday, April 22nd, 2021 from 8:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. The day includes pre-recorded sessions, a live synchronous keynote session and group breakout sessions. Research Day is a forum for highlighting research conducted by healthcare professionals, scientists, students, patients, and families at Parkwood Institute Research and affiliated research units. The theme of the 2021 Parkwood Institute Research Day is Moving Toward Better Health. The Keynote Speaker is Dr. William McIlroy, Professor, Department of Kinesiology, University Waterloo who will speak on the topic of Mobility, Activity, and Brain Health: What can we learn from wearable technology. Awards will be given for best presentations in each of our three theme areas: 1) Mobility and Activity, 2) Cognitive Vitality and Brain Health, and 3) Mental Health. Abstracts should be double spaced, maximum of 250 words, 12-point sans serif font in MS Word format and submitted electronically to [email protected]. Abstracts should include study objectives, method, results, and conclusions. Ideally, it also should outline implications for care, policy development, and/or future research and evaluation. We will consider submissions for studies currently in progress, with preference given to completed projects. Please indicate whether your project has Research Ethics Board approval. Please acknowledge sources of funding, as appropriate. Notification of decisions will be distributed mid-March. Presenters whose submissions are accepted will be required to prepare a 5-minute pre-recorded video presentation that includes either the poster or summary PowerPoint slides and must be available to answer live quesions. Additional details and directions regarding how to access and to post pre-recorded presentations on the Research Day electronic platform will be provided in mid- to late March.
