As an empath, this is a great article that is spot on.
T’was The Night T’was the night before Christmas And all through my mind My mental illness was stirring... Choosing not to be kind. The visions were dancing around in my brain The emotions running rampant inflicting great pain. My family were all nestled snug in their beds While thoughts of sadness and dying danced through my head Me in my chair, a cat in my my lap I tried to calm down for a short little nap. When up on the roof there rose such a clatter I jumped from my chair to see what was the matter Away to the window I stumbled and ran Threw open the curtain to see what I can The moon was shining brightly, lighting up the ground below And all I could make out was an angel, beckoning below. I gazed in wonder at the beautiful sight And asked myself what did it mean seeing her here tonight? Was she there to take me home away from the pain Or there to give me strength to keep fighting again? With beautiful wings and a glow that filled the night I drew in her power and knew that I could still continue the fight. With a voice so sweet as she sang to me loud You’ve got work to be done and people to make proud. And as fast as she came she left me that night Leaving me with hopes for a better future in sight. Merry Christmas to all and all a good night. - wendy brown

It’s been one year since this happened and what a year it’s been! First off - 2020 - there’s a shit show right there to survive! I became a gramma! I’m working full time kicking ass since March. ... I’ve quit binge drinking and can now tolerate a wine with dinner like a regular person. Yay for stability!
I am sharing this local company/organization that’s from here in Edmonton Alberta Canada and her amazing selection of comfort gifts that raise money for local mental health initiatives. These make wonderful gifts for someone you know that needs a pick-me-up to let them know they matter. It’s a gift that they can use to comfort them in darker moments. Let’s overwhelm her with our kindness!!! ... https://www.keepyourcupfull.ca/
Controversial post? Yes. However, as a survivor of trauma and abuse, she speaks the truth. No wonder the go to treatment (and most funded one) is CBT group therapy. Put the traumatized and abused in a room and gaslight them until they change the way they see the abuse or trauma and teach THEM to cope instead of dealing with the complex consequences of the trauma and abuse. I believe that CBT started out with the best of intentions and it was what they knew then. But mental h...ealth treatments evolve and so should the people providing those treatments. We expect every other medical profession to stay on top of the latest and most effective treatments for the best outcomes, but dont hold the psychiatric and psychological industries to the same standard. Its time for systematic change and a dramatic overhaul to mental health service and delivery in this province. Every single government passes the buck on this one, instead throwing the occasional burst of spending to more treatment beds to look good. They need to clean out the dinosaurs in charge of delivering mental health treatment and replace them with people who are actually invested in seeing real change in the lives of people living with mental illness. We can start by pressuring our elected officials to start prioritizing mental health treatment and ask that those running for the provincial seats be brave enough to run on a platform of monumental change. And give your votes to those willing to stand up for mental health. Alberta's NDP

Be kind to them until they try to cross your boundaries, and then be assertive to enforce your boundaries.
Nothing like a good cry to heal
When doing the work of digging in to see why you might be triggered or reacting the way you do, this graph might be helpful. I find it beneficial
