~Lumbar Disc Herniations and Low Back Pain~ Disc herniations are a common cause of low back pain and if managed well, have a very high recovery rate. A September 2020 study looked at nonoperative management strategies for lumbar disc herniations. In this study, 97% of participants were treated successfully with nonoperative strategies, including chiropractic care! Chiropractic spinal manipulation has been shown to reduce pain, improve function, and improve range of motion. Wh...en combined with exercise prescription recovery rates increase and the rate of recurrence decreases. Now is a great time to start chiropractic care. Call/text the clinic (604) 968-2402 or book online. We direct bill all major insurance companies and have both morning and evening appointments available. Lilly D, Davison M, Eldridge C et al. I became a chiropractor to help people. I had my own amazing experiences with chiropractors which lead me down this path. However, It frustrates me to hear that my fellow practioners are disregarding patients concerns, rushing through their treatments, or over treating. All for what? To practice in an outdated model in order to get as many people on the schedule as possible? This needs to change. My goal is for my patients to feel heard, to know that I am taking their conc...erns seriously, and to educate and empower them to not need me. You deserve the kind of care you would expect to recieve.

As much as we pride ourselves in being movement based therapists at Novo, our other main passion is manual therapy. . Manual therapy is the use of our hands to ...mobilize tissues (whether that be muscle, skin, scar tissue, joints, etc.) so that we can load them more comfortably through movement and exercise. . Every practitioner we have has worked hard at becoming the best we can at assessing and mobilizing your joints to hopefully speed up recovery and decrease pain. . It’s a perfect blend of art and science, and we love what we do . Feel like something isn’t moving right? Let’s find out why it feels that way and treat the root cause of the issue . . . . . . . Week 1 virtual pilates complete! This week was all about breathing and shoulder mobility - which I thought was quite appropriate for this time of year. Try this for yourself. Sit comfortably, wrap your arms around your ribs, relax your shoulders. On your inhale feel your ribs expand under your hands, and on your exhale feel the ribs slide down. Keep your shoulders relaxed and your spine long :) Thanks to my lovely assistants that joined me on night one. We loved seeing all... your faces without masks on! (The beauty of virtual classes) And of course loved seeing all your little kiddos and critters running around Looking forward to next week!

Looking for pain relief during pregnancy? Chiropractic is a safe, gentle, and effective way of reducing pregnancy related pain or discomfort. As your baby (and uterus) grows there is a significant stretch placed on your abdominal muscles which can increase pain experienced in your joints and especially your low back. Chiropractic can help ease these pains and reduce the need for painkillers. Your treatment can include:... * Chiropractic adjustments or mobilization (where appropriate) * Soft tissue release * Exercise prescription I am currently accepting new patients and would love to be a part of your health team Online booking available in my profile!

Well its been a minute since I've posted! So here's a picture of my old dancer's foot. But I wanted to draw attention to the lovely little bunion on my first MTP joint... How does a chiro treat bunions (aka Hallux Valgus)? Here's a few ways: 1. Joint manipulation- very effective for improving range of motion of the toes... 2. Soft tissue release using techniques such as ART or instrument assisted soft tissue release (Graston technique is similar) 3. Exercise! Yes you CAN strengthen that toe to help reduce symptoms. And we chiros are armed with great exercises to help you along the way :) Think you might benefit from a little chiro care? Or know someone who might? I'd love to help! Book online today!

Have you ever had a pinch in your back with overhead reaching or pressing? This could be due to a lack of shoulder blade movement and/or control of your trunk muscles. Here is a quick and easy exercise to help. Lie on your back with your knees bent and arms pointed up to the ceiling. Take a deep breath into your belly. On your exhale think about sliding your ribs toward your hips and reach your arms overhead. You should feel your abdominal muscles tighten. Work to reach you...r arms straight. You can progress this by performing it standing and then eventually with weights or bands. Remember, you want to keep your ribs reaching downward as your arms move overhead. Give it a go! ************************************* I am now accepting new patients and am practicing with Novo Physio & Health. Online booking link is in my profile @ Langley, British Columbia
