We have had some question with regards to wearing gloves in the office. Currently we are asking patients not to wear gloves into the office as this does pose more risk of cross contamination. The Chief Medical Office of Health of Ontario has directed ALL Regulated Health Professionals that ALL non-essential and elective services should be ceased or reduced to minimal levels, until further notice. We will only be capable of emergency appointments until further notice. Provincial state of emergency has been extended to April 14. In order to reduce risk to both patients and staff, we will not be accepting new patients at this time, and will only be seeing emergency a...ppointment types. In these unpresedented ( and rapidly changing) times many questions are being asked about what Chiropodists should be doing in response to the COVID 19 pandemic. I felt it important to reach out to you on the status of our operations and to advise on the changes in protocol that the office has implemented. Currently our office is closed until April 1st, 2020. Firstly, and most importantly, we hope that you and your loved ones are in good health. ... The college of Chiropodists of Ontario ( www.cocoo.on.ca ) strongly recommends that all non-essential and elective Chiropody services should be suspended immediately. The concern is by keeping the clinic operational it may be putting our patients, community and staff at risk. With the recent spike in confirmed cases in Kingston (3) and area in addition to the province wide declared state of emergency a decision to remain closed will be announced on Friday March 31, 2020 at 1 pm. This decision will be made based on our commitment to best practises recommended by local and national authorities to minimize the risk of exposure and spread of COVID 19.
