The Met 07.11.2020

In this week’s sermon, The Judgment and Mercy of God from Genesis 19, Pastor Jonathan shares these words: Friends, I wonder if you have heard the warning of the judgment that is to come. I wonder if you have taken that warning seriously before now. Perhaps you’ve never heard it before, maybe that’s the case for some listening today. Or perhaps you’ve heard it but honestly you have paid little attention to it. Whatever the case may be for you personally, the account is here ...in large part to urge each one of us to take seriously the warning, to flee to Jesus Christ for refuge, for forgiveness, for safety, in the judgment that is to come. If you haven’t done that, let me urge you, let me plead with you franklywould you run to Jesus Christ for safety, would you receive the forgiveness that He offers? He welcomes anyone- whatever our sin, whatever our record, whoever we are, whatever we’ve done- He died that we who deserve the judgment of God (and that’s all of us), He died that we might be forgiven. He died that we might be spared the judgment to come because He has taken our judgment at the cross, He died that we might be welcomed to His eternal Kingdom. Would you take seriously the warning that is the judgment that is to come? Would you flee to Jesus Christ, even today? If you want to know more about how you can experience this refuge, forgiveness, and safety, we want to hear from you. You can head over to our website and select I Need Prayer for a member of our MetCare team to contact you, or you can get in touch with the church office at 613-238-8182. If these questions are stirring in your head and in your heart, please don’t wait to reach out. If you haven't yet checked out this week's sermon, it's not too late. Check it out here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBiSzeGbP_4 or on our website.

As we continue our journey through the world of Met Missions, we are pleased to share a small glimpse of the work that is happening in Europe and Latin America through our Met Missionaries. Many of them will agree that the support they receive from the Met is an integral part in the gospel reaching these nations, and we couldn't accomplish any of it without you. If you'd like to know more about how you can support our missionaries and the work they do through prayer and encouragement, connect with [email protected]!

In this weeks sermon, The Blessing: The Open Hand of Faith , Pastor Jonathan shard these impactful words: We need to see that this radical generosity that SAVES us, must also be the radical generosity that SHAPES us. If we have received all this, if like Abram we are heirs of the great promises of God, we must be those who learn to hold very, very loosely to that which we could claim, who hold loosely to the rights, and privileges and possessions of this present world. We must be those whose hands are open as we hold these things, who will not clench our fists...And we need to be like thatso we can be those who bring the salvation blessings of God to the world as messengers, as agents, as witnesses. How are you being shaped by the radical generosity of God?

As Pastor Jonathan began our new series, "The Blessing" this week, he shared the appropriate reminder that God's salvation blessing never come out of our personal achievement. Isn't it reassuring to know that despite being messy characters ourselves, God chooses to save us, bless us, and use us even as a flawed people? We can't stop His salvation plan. If something in this week's sermon stood out for you, why not share it in the comments. #sermonrecap #theblessing

In this week's sermon, "Prayers in the Midst of Afflictions", Pastor Dave reminds us that following Jesus through afflictions is part of what it means to be a Christian, and that we need to call to mind the opportunity affliction creates for encouraging and teaching those who fear the Lord whose eyes are upon us. Have you recently had the opportunity to encourage or teach others through your afflictions? Feel free to encourage others as well by sharing how God was at work in the comments. #sermonrecap #psalmsforthesummer

This has been our 11th year taking part in Operation Backpack, and despite things looking a little differently this year, we are so thankful that God worked through our congregation to provide 100 backpacks to bless those in the Banff-Ledbury area. Each backpack also included an invitation to church, as well as Bible resources. Pray that God would move in these families to connect with the church, and to read the Scriptures in their own language. Thank you to all who contributed! #cityoutreach #operationbackpack

Pray for wisdom for teachers and educators, as well as for good leadership from principals and school ...boards, that they would be able to provide good education in a safe way. The Met 12.10.2019

In this week's sermon, "Placing your Trust in the Right Place", Pastor Jonathan challenged us to reflect on where do you place your hope and confidence? It is important to remember that we must solely place our hope in the Lord, not in human leaders, who will fail us. The only human who has not, is the God-man; Jesus Christ. He is our only Saviour. Amidst the placing of our hope and trust, we must also cultivate and train our hearts through the spiritual discipline of praising the Lord; in every season, in every trial, in every circumstance. This Psalm leads us from its opening to its closing to praise the Lord.
