A beautiful 1968 Breitling Top Time chronograph model 2000 with original black/silver panda dial in a gold plated case with high quality Venus caliber 188 within, freshly serviced, keeping great time, ready to wear. Direct from the original owner, a Canadian Pacific Navigating Officer who used it daily to take take sun or star sights with a sextant to check the ship’s position. The ship had an onboard chronometer, and we used to check its accuracy daily via dai...ly radio signal from Greenwich. I often found that my Breitling was more accurate than the ship’s chronometer, so I trusted its accuracy more than the latter. FS: Extremely rare and beautiful 1953 Rolex Oyster Perpetual EXPLORER reference 6298 made the same year Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary first summited Mount Everest. Also of the same year the first Explorer with the famous 3-6-9 dial configuration was produced, the famous model 6350. A truly important piece of Rolex history, this example features a gorgeous matte black stepped dial with gilt printing, fantastic applied Rolex coronet at 12:00 with missile shape hour markers... and inner minute track, signed Rolex, Oyster Perpetual, Explorer, Shock-Resisting, Swiss. The large 36mm bubbleback case is virtually identical to the 6350 and in excellent condition, lightly polished in its time but with light surface wear from gentle wear since.
