World Class Opportunities Imperial Oil is one of Canada’s largest corporations and a leading member of the country’s petroleum industry. The company is a major ...producer of crude oil and natural gas, and a major developer of Canada’s vast oil sands located in northern Alberta. We are developing the exciting Kearl Oil Sands Project north of Fort McMurray, Alberta with an estimated lifespan of over 40 years. The project will incorporate a large scale mining and bitumen production operation, utilizing world class technology and equipment. Kearl Plant Operators Kearl Site, Alberta The Imperial Oil Kearl Development is a 112,000 barrel per day oil sands mining and bitumen processing operation. Plans exist to expand this to approximately a 350,000 barrel per day operation with well over 1000 employees. Kearl utilizes world class equipment and technology. Reporting to Plant Shift Foremen, the Process Technician is expected to safely & efficiently operate the units within the plant environment which could include but is not limited to the Ore Preparation/Hydro Transport, Extraction, Froth Treatment & Utilities areas. As well as Provide vacation coverage for experienced operating staff. Responsibilities: Ensures plant equipment is operated safely and efficiently and maintained through structured surveillance rounds Consistently working in a safe manner and manage the safety of the unit and those working in it on a daily basis. Utilizing a proactive approach for troubleshooting and identifying maintenance issues of the operating unit. Complete minor maintenance as required. Ensure equipment is locked-out/tagged-out and safe for maintenance activities as required (LOTO) Monitor DCS control systems for assigned units Maximizing production in a safe manner while protecting the environment. Special Requirements: Adhere to all safety, health and environment policies and procedures Work as a supportive team member Take part in all required training Good interpersonal and communication skills Able to work independently Ability to build good, respectful working relationships Basic computer skills Minimum Grade 12 required or equivalency (GED - General Education Development) Valid Driver’s license Emergency Response training preferred Levels of experience required OP 1 (entry level) to OP 6 (multi-skilled). Initial pre-site training will be conducted at the Kearl site Related experience within the Oil Sands, Mining, Construction or Oil & Gas sector would be an asset. A third class team ticket or technology diploma is preferred Imperial Oil offers a competitive compensation (including rotation and site based premiums) and benefits package and excellent opportunities for growth and advancement. The successful candidate will leverage their knowledge and skill to provide leadership and influence the development of the Kearl Oil Sands from the early stages of the operation. This position will be a full time Fly-in, Fly-out role to Kearl site from either Calgary or Edmonton. Relocation assistance to Calgary or Edmonton is available if required. Kearl operations positions will typically be 11 days on and 9 days off & 12 hour shifts. (Shift rotations start and finish with a half-day shift).
