#FiveAlarm #StoriesFromTheFair Mark ‘Sparky’ MacDonald Tucker Dell One time when I came home late from something, I had an hour or so to grab a bite to eat before I had to go to work my usual night shift. So I decide to heat up a can of chili. I spend a few minutes cutting up some carrots and browsing the internet while I wait, but when I check on the chili it hasn’t heated up at all. I turned the dial to a relatively low heat, but it should’ve warmed up by then. I spend a good 10 minutes fiddling with the stove trying to figure out what is going on, but then I find out that the element it was on wasn’t plugged back in after it was cleaned earlier that day. I was screaming internally as I ate my chili. When I actually FINALLY heated it up of course.

#FiveAlarm takes place at a fair so we asked the cast and crew to share some of their own #storiesfromthefair Kate Chubbs Stage Manager It’s not exactly a fair, but I have good memories of going to the Saturday market on Salt Spring Island. My family would go camping every May long weekend, and it would always include a day at the market. I love trying all the food, exploring the artists’ stalls, and sitting in the park listening to the xylophone musicians.

Congratulations to all of the CTC Nominees! Metro Theatre is very proud to have received 24 nominations at the Community Theatre Coalition Nominations announced August 2020. There are 21 categories of awards plus the Special Recognition Award. We feel so honoured to have received multiple nominations in a number of categories.... A Comedy of Tenors is nominated for a Special Recognition Award for having our three tenors (Carlos, Vicente and Mostafa) sing the Libiamo from La Traviata during a non-musical show. It has been a very long while since we at Metro have had the confidence to set a re-opening date for the final production of our 57th season we have missed you! With COVID -19 protocols being continually updated and implemented, and safety for all our top priority, Metro Theatre is thrilled to raise the curtain for Charleys Aunt on stage September 25 October 17, 2020. Written by Brandon Thomas, edited by Paul Thain, and directed by Alison Schamberger, this well-loved century old British comedy plays on the trope of a ridiculous person impersonating a serious one.

Charleys Aunt now in rehearsal, centres on Lord Fancourt Babberley, an undergraduate whose friends Jack and Charley persuade him to impersonate the latters aunt. The complications of the plot include the arrival of the real aunt and the attempts of an elderly fortune hunter to woo the bogus aunt. The play was first performed at the Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds in February 1892.The production broke the historic record for longest-running play worldwide, running for 1,466 performances. Coming to the Metro stage April 3 - 19.
