I just thought I would share some information with you about vetting and transporting the rescued dogs from our shelter in Guanajuato to their forever homes in Canada. This is especially directed to those out there that think this is a "money grab". Believe it or not, I've heard this statement! All in CAD$ Chauffeur for five hour drive from Guanajuato to Mexico City (includes highway tolls, gasoline, wage) $566.10, Overnight hotels for chauffeur and one of my employees $1...92.00, Overnight boarding for twelve dogs $207.59, Airfare for passenger and 12 dogs $3730.96, YVR porter $150, Overnight near YVR 3 rooms $398.49, BC Ferries $149.40, Value of dogs (includes vetting, tests, spay/neuter, worming, dental, vaccines) and dog crates $1879.00, GST paid on value $93.92, CFIA inspection fee $91.26. TOTALLING $7458.72. The adoption fee for our dogs is $500.00 x 12 dogs = $6000. DIFFERENCE $1458.72 (in the red). Let's not forget about the hard work, sleepless nights, stress and headaches. Success! Twelve dogs flew from Mexico to Canada on October 28 and will now have the lives they deserve. Thanks to people who adopt instead of purchasing from breeders, there is a drop less suffering in this world. What a huge endeavour and amount of work.
