Did You Know Movement is Essential to the Human Body ? Back to the Basics - 1 Movement Your body is made of many moving parts your anatomy was created intentionally, these parts are supposed to move. Did you know the Structure and the function of your body is interrelated, meaning that each influence each other. ... Problems can arise when the body or certain joints stop moving properly, or decrease in amount of motion. With most of us at home now, are bodies are sitting way more than we are use to. So Let’s get some gentle Movement in this week! Your Veins & Lymph vessels do not have muscular comments to them unlike arteries, so they need help by movement to circulate back to the heart Movement Increases circulation of synovial Fluid in and around joints, providing lubrication and nutrients to the cartilage the tissue that act as a cushion between your bones. Helps Maintain Bone health & Strength You’ve heard he term use it or lose it! Regular activity maintains and can increases muscle and bone strength Improves Balance Your body is all about balance and trying to keep you level, the body is Constantly processing position detection, call proprioception, feedback and adjustment using communication between the inner ear, the eyes, muscles, joints and the brain. Your body will always try to keep your eyes level either the horizon, how cool is that!? Movement can increase your body’s balance by using its senses when you are walking and increase lower body and core strength to help with balance. Decreases Inflammation By moving muscles they contract during physical activity which stimulates secretion of proteins interleukin an anti-inflammatory to help decrease inflammation in the body So make time to move your body, however that feels good for you!! Just a gentle walk is one of the best and easiest things to do. Take a bike ride, breathing, stretches, yoga, Pilates, weighted exercises, body weight exercises, a run or cardio workout. 3 Hydration You always hear drink more water, and you know you feel better when you do, But why ? Here’s some fun anatomy facts on water and your body : our bodies are 60-70% water... Our joints are 80% water - Dehydration could cause inflammation and irritation in your joints Helps Energy levels & Brain Function Our brains require lots of water and energy to function efficiently Our Lungs have a lining called surfactant that is a mucus made up of water Did you know Saliva is mostly water and is the first step in the digestion process by breaking down food in our mouth Our digestive system requires water to help move food and nutrients thought the intestine Water helps skin keep its elasticity and smoothness! So as we focus on moving our bodies everyday let’s not forget to hydrate! Just start with small steps and try adding one more glass a day! The amount of water you should be drinking all depends on your age, weight and activity level, there is many resources online that will give you a rough idea! Do what feels best for you! . . . . . Please reach out to your doctor or primary health care physician if you have any questions about how much water you should be drinking in relation to any medications you are on or health problems you may have.
