This figure shows the net profits (income after expenses, etc.) of the five major banks taken right from their Q1 financial reports. This is all happening in the middle of a pandemic induced recession. While hardworking middle class families are struggling to keep their homes and put food on the table, the banks are recording astonishing profits. Statistics Canada estimated 1,899,000 people (9.4% unemployment rate) were out of work in January 2021, and it’s a safe bet we all ...know someone in that position. I’m not here to bash the banks. I use them for my business, and almost every Canadian needs them for various reasons. But, shouldn’t we learn how to use them, rather than them using us?
