What is Probate? Probate is when a will is submitted to the courts, along with information about the deceased individual, their beneficiaries and their estate. A justice (which is what a Queen’s Bench judge is called) reviews the will and confirms it meets the requirements to be an actual will. At the end of this process a Grant of Probate is issued by the justice. This certificate allows the executor to begin collecting the assets of the estate. Probate does not confirm th...at this is the last will of the deceased or prevent someone from bringing a claim against the estate. What is the best day to close on a house? Of the closings our firm deals with, between 70-80% happen on the 1st of the month, the 15th of the month or the last day of the month or on Fridays. These are popular dates because the line up nicely with leases that are coming to an end, and when you take possession of your new home on a Friday you have all weekend to move and set up your new home. Keep in mind however that choosing one of these popular closing dates may result in... delays due to high volume of other home buyers choosing the same dates. How did Olds get its name? The year 1890 marks the beginning of the settlement which became the town of Olds. On 27 July 1891, the first through train made the trip from Calgary to south Edmonton. That same month the CPR took over the operation of the C & E Railway. A committee of CPR officials, charged with selecting names for the points along the line and the town site was named for a CPR traffic manager, George Olds. He was born in Gloucestershire, England in 1832. He cam...e to Canada as a young man and worked for a number of railways in Canada and the United States, returning to Canada in 1886 to join Canadian Pacific as a General Traffic Manager. He held this position until his retirement 10 years later. George Olds is buried in the cemetery at Airdrie, Alberta. The amount of support that is payable is determined by the number of children, the parenting arrangement and the incomes of the parents. The Federal Child Support Guidelines determine child support for married couples. The Alberta Child Support Guidelines determine child support for unmarried couples. ...Full Guideline amounts only paid when one parent has the children more than 60% of the time. The obligation to pay child support is separate from the right of the child to see both of his or her parents. Parents do not have the ability to make payment conditional on seeing the child. There are two main components to child support: Section 3 Child Support: this is most often paid on a monthly basis to assist with the day to day costs in raising a child. Section 7 Child Support: this component of child support is for costs beyond the day to days costs of raising a child.
