On this day in 2014, the Children First Act came into effect in Alberta. The Act states that the well-being, safety, security, education and health of children are priorities for Albertans. An important part of the Children First Act is its recognition of a multidisciplinary approach. All individuals, organizations, programs and services that support children are to collaborate through information sharing to serve in the best interests of every child. Those impacted by sextortion should not have to suffer alone. According to a survey by Thorn.org, 1 in 3 who experienced sextortion did not tell anyone.
