Today is our last day being open for the season! After today it will be open by appointment only as our summer students are done for the year. We would like to thank all of our amazing board members, members at large, our amazing volunteers, summer students and the community for another successful summer. We would also like to remind you that October 16 is the last day to "Buy a Plank" as part of our Caboose fundraiser. If you want more information please check our website page https://miamirailwaystationmuseum.com/fundraising Thanks for your support and see you next year!
Over the past couple of weeks are summer students have been busy transforming the old visitor entrance into a private office space that will be used by staff and volunteers. We ask that all visitors use the new visitor entrance located on the south side of the building. Check out the photos below to see the difference between the old paint colour, primer and the new paint colour.
COVID-19 Mask Update: For the past month our staff have been wearing masks when interacting with visitors. Starting today (September 5 2020), masks will be mandatory for visitors to wear when entering the museum. This is to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, and for the safety of our staff and volunteers. Are staff and volunteers will continue to wear masks when welcoming you into the building, and will continue cleaning high touch surfaces after each visitor. For more information about who is exempt from wearing a mask, please check the infographic below. For more information about the museum's COVID-19 precautions, check our website https://miamirailwaystationmuseum.com/covid-19-precautions to learn more.
We're taking break from #FunFrankFridays this week in order to introduce and welcome Ernest who is our latest addition to our mannequin family. You may notice that his legs look a little wonky, that's because he was involved in a serious train accident a while ago.
Our summer staff + volunteers have been working hard these past few days on some beautification projects. Our staff members dug up over 700 bricks from our sidewalk, some of which were repurposed into this beautiful patio area overlooking the caboose and station. We ask that visitors continue using our usual front entrance until our new entrance is complete. We would like to give special thanks to Sophie Prondzinski and Ed + Joan Dreidger for volunteering.
Check out these beautiful 1920's Elkington sliver plated dishes engraved with C.P.R! Check out the before and after photos below to see the difference. We would like to thank Cathy Savage for volunteering her time to polish these pieces and doing a fantastic job!

Pembina Valley Studio Tour Update: For many years the museum has hosted a stop of the wonderful Pembina Valley Studio Tour. After much discussion, our museum board has made the difficult decision to cancel our participation as a host stop for this year's 2020 studio tour. Due to the small size of our building and the large number of tour attendees we receive, COVID-19 guidelines would be difficult to implement in a space of our size. We appreciate everybody's understanding and hope to be able to host for the 2021 Studio Tour.

We officially opened for the summer yesterday!! Our summer hours are Wednesday to Sunday 9-12, 12:30-5. We are excited for the summer even with all the changes we have made due to COVID-19 which include: -Hand sanitize upon entry -Limiting the number of visitors allowed inside to 5 at a time to allow for social distancing -No guided tours: instead visitors will be given self tour brochures... -Roped off rooms: you can see into them but are unable to enter to help reduce touchable surfaces -Our interactive elements are closed (typewriter, train games, bingo) -Admission fee's will be placed directly into a jar: we ask that visitors bring exact change for admission (2$ per person, $5 per family) so our staff and volunteers don't have to handle cash Thank you for your support and we hope to see you this summer!!!
