MICE Magazine 26.02.2021

WELCOME BACK TO MICE After undergoing a period of transition and rethinking, we at MICE Magazine are pleased to reconvene as a collective that is engaged in critical and collective writing. Our membership now includes Marina Fathalla, Marsya Maharani, and Aaditya Aggarwal. We are grateful to carry forward the learnings and legacies from former and founding members including Gina Badger, Christina Battle, Scott Miller Berry, Jaclyn Bruneau, Jesse Cumming, Ben Donoghue, Am...y Fung, Esmé Elizabeth, Onyeka Igwe, Yaniya Lee, Esery Mondesir, cheyanne turions, Safia Siad, and Caroline Ivy. In our first project as new members, MICE is beyond excited to present Short Truths: A Creative Writing Workshop on SUNDAY, MAY 10, at 2PM: a FREE creative writing workshop this led by curator Alyssa C. Fearon and researcher, activist, and artist Alexa Potashnik. This workshop is co-presented with the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (AGSM). This project is part of a series of online workshops that depart from Liz Ikiriko and Anique Jordan's collective text . The piece was written for our last issue, , which focused on strategic refusals of the objectifying and consumptive gaze or encounter, as read through the changing positioning and practice of contemporary Afro-diasporic art. This text will act as a starting point to discuss and collaboratively build on themes of correspondence, fragmentary writing, unfinished thoughts, and the possibilities of intimacy and tactile engagement through virtual means. is a letter between friends, a manifesto, an unfinished project, research, a stream of consciousness, and an open space for informal considerations of home, relationships, and belonging. Capacity is limited! To register, visit the link below:
