Aylmer, Henry Hildebrandt, The Church of God, anti-mask rallies... Based on the promo for this episode of W5, I thought the story would be overly sensationalized. Turns out it was only very mildly sensationalized - mostly by way of shots of the investigating journalist’s shocked face. But I guess if you haven’t been living through all this drama in Aylmer over the last year like many of us have, you’d be shocked too. This was pretty well done. Take a look and feel free to make comments or ask questions. https://youtu.be/dNskfQpjsag

Read this by Josh & Sueann Wiebe. It's more than a blog post - it's a declaration, even a manifesto. It's a tribute to resilience and the right kind of defiance. It's a "This is where it ends" and a "Here is where we begin" and a new vision. It's loving your enemy, even when your enemy is a virus. It's a giant middle-finger to evil and all that evil seeks to accomplish. This is how we lament and rejoice as we prepare to face what's next. "The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light." - Romans 13:12

Fellow pastors, I have been greatly encouraged by the responses I've received from church members to the message below. I encourage you to send something similar out via your Fb page or email list. I've received numerous long responses from struggling but grateful people who appreciated the prompt to both lament and rejoice. Perhaps a few in your churches would welcome the same. Below is what I sent out. Feel free to use my wording, to modify or create your own: "March 14th w...ill mark one year since the first Sunday of the COVID-19 pandemic era. We've made time to lament along the way as we've taken stock of what we've lost. It's been quite a year, but as I've had time to reflect on the year, in addition to all that I grieve and lament, I also see clear evidence of God's faithfulness. This is what I want to preach about on March 14, 2021 and I'd love for your stories to help shape my sermon. If you haven't already, spend some time reflecting on the last 12 months. As you do that, yes, take time to name and lament all that you lost, but also reflect long and deeply on how God has been faithful in all of this. What has God been up to in your life? What unexpected blessings have you received during this year of great loss? What are some insights you gained that you probably wouldn't have otherwise? How did the change of pace impact your family? And if you're willing to share, please send me a note on Facebook or via email at _______________."

Hey everyone, March 14th will mark one year since the first Sunday of the COVID-19 pandemic era. We've made time to lament along the way as we've taken stock of what we've lost. Discounted prints... see pics. I'd like to see as many of these as possible go out before Friday. These are already discounted but I might be open to reasonable offers on some of them. Try me. :-)
