A while back I visited the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge in New York State and took some great photos of a golden eagle that just captured my eye. She was so photogenic! Back in the studio, I've found the perfect wood board to capture her likeness...parts of the wood grain even look like feathers. Here's a work in progress image of the underpainting. 17x22", oil on barnwood.
