Manitoba Wedding Professionals are once again being ignored by the Manitoba Government and this time, we’re not staying quiet. We banded together in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic to demand clear instructions from the government of how to operate safely and received little to no information. We worked tirelessly with our couples to give them the answers and guidance they deserved but never received, and we abided by every restriction that was implemented all whil...e losing large portions, if not all, of our income. We’re banding together again to fight back against Brain Pallister’s overt exclusion of Photographers, Videographers, Make-up Artists, Florists, DJs and every other business in our industry who operates a mobile business. We are being denied access to The Manitoba Bridge Grant that was promised to all small businesses on the basis that we do not operate a storefront. Our income is fair game for provincial taxation, but our businesses are treated as passive hobbies. Not only have we lost an entire summer’s revenue (some of us have had to take up day jobs with no gatherings permitted, therefore no business), but a month before Christmas, our holiday, family, branding sessions and more have been ordered to cease no photography is to be conducted in a studio OR outdoors yet we are also ineligible for the small business support Brian Pallister promised publicly to all those ordered to shut down. 2020 Halloween Strange year, strange Halloween but we made it work. Social distance, masks and lots of hand washing! Houses handing out were very careful passing candy with tongs, slides, tubes and even a couple tennis rackets!... This years theme was #jurassicpark and the boys had a blast! I’m hoping this tradition continues! Lastly, happy 65th to my papa! He received some beautiful local art!
