Middlefield Farm 04.10.2020

Patrick Robinson Wistaston https://www.facebook.com/groups/3039449809508148/?ref=share PLEASE SHARE. THIS IS HAPPENING ALL OVER THE UK NOW... We have spent the last 4 days trying to save this poor 6 month old calf. We found half a helium balloon in the field that had blown in. The vet believes she’s eaten the other half and is more than likely going to die. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop thinking it’s a good idea to let helium balloons off, cows are naturally inquisitive and will eat anything. It was a black and silver 70th birthday balloon. Congratulations on your birthday, this little one won’t even see 7 months!! Thank you for all the support, she made it through the night, we’re just giving her water and a cuddle I’m sorry if this last photo is upsetting but little Lisa the calf died this afternoon. This is her Mum who still won’t leave her side. She doesn’t understand that people can be careless and allow their rubbish and balloons to end up in their field and in her baby’s stomach. See more

I took a walk in the woods this afternoon, although not sunny it was very warm and the pigs were enjoying the shade. One guy was eating leaves from a shrub, another was scratching his head on a tree stump and others were stretched out under the trees sleeping. Whatever you're doing this weekend relax and enjoy yourself.

Hubbard's Farmers Market. We have been waiting for the Hubbard's farmers market to go online like most other markets in Nova Scotia. Sadly the board has decided not to pursue this option at this time, whilst we understand their reason for this - not enough volunteers, this does leave us having to find another way to be able to serve our customers. We are hoping that we have found the perfect solution. Farmer Paul will be going to Hubbard's every Saturday from this Saturday 23rd May from 10am - Noon, he will be parked next to Sheila's fish and will be following all NSHA requirements. Customers will be able to collect pre-ordered products on the day and can either prepay or pay on collection. Contact us for an up to date price list.

This is a honey bee. The pollen on her legs is from dandelions. Her tongue is sticking out due to what killed her that was on the dandelions. It’s spring, dand...elions are the bees first food. This bee is dead from weed killer spread on what we see as weeds, but what nature sees as food. Please don’t spray for weeds until you see the blackberries blooming. In this area, weeds, flowers and fruit trees are bees only source of food until middle of June. There are FAR more weeds than flowers or fruit trees, so it's their only food source. No bees, no food crops for us and we all starve. See more

So, the beaches are opening and we can now have two family meetings. Closer to home, Shore thing emporium will be opening three days a week, Reynolds Pharmacy and Home Hardware are reopening their stores for customers to browse, lets hope that things in our little corner of the world continue to improve. Work on getting the Liverpool farmers market online is continuing behind the scenes, hopefully I will be able to share more news about that soon. Whilst you are waiting, don't forget that we are still delivering twice a week on Saturdays & Mondays. Tomorrow I will be delivering to Milton, Liverpool and Beach Meadows. Check out our prices & availability and give me a call. Stay safe everyone.

I'm not sure if this should be classed as a Farm Funny or whether it should be Geography

It's Mother's day tomorrow, show her that you love her by shopping locally. Lots of cafes and restaurants in Liverpool are offering special menus for spoiling your Mum. Shore thing emporium has lots of lovely hand crafted options for a one of a kind gift and our friend Jacqui at The Queens Florist is still taking orders for flowers with delivery tomorrow and she has pledged to keep the delivery free until the Social distancing restrictions have been lifted.
