Happy New Year Mid Isle families, Tonight, the executive committee met to discuss what soccer is going to look like for the duration of our Mid Isle season. What we are able to update you all on right now is that we have made the difficult decision to end the season for our Pony and Girl Power players. With the current Provincial guidelines in effect, we believe this in the best interest for our little soccer players, parents, coaches and community members and we apprecia...te your support and understanding at this time. We are currently working with coaches and volunteers for the U10 and U11 age groups to see if it will be feasible to proceed with the remainder of the season safely. Please stay tuned for more information as we receive it. For ages U12 and up, we are planning to continue with the remainder of the season beginning January 18, 2021. We are working with our coaches and volunteers of these age groups to make sure we are all able to get back on the field safely and adhering to the changes in the provincial guidelines. As a result of further clarification from BC Soccer, regarding Dr Henry’s recent restrictions, Mid Isle Soccer is going to suspend soccer activities a few weeks early, effective immediately, for the Winter Break and hope to get everyone back on the field in the new year. As a small club we have players from multiple communities/municipalities/townships and Dr Henry has ordered that players cannot play outside their community at this time. This would drastically impact our te...ams (and it does not seem fair that some players would get to continue with soccer and others would not). Additionally, several of our coaches come from our neighbouring communities so they would no longer be able to coach in Ladysmith. Mid Isle Soccer Club wishes all our members a happy and healthy extended Winter Break and we hope to see you all on the fields in January. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page and website for any updates. Sincerely, The Mid Isle Soccer Executive

Good evening Mid Isle community, In light of the most recent restrictions announced today from Dr. Bonnie Henry, we are no longer able to allow any spectators at any Mid Isle events, such as practices or games. As always, we encourage and support parents to make decisions that make sense for them about whether they want their child(ren) attending practices/games and to remain in contact with the coaches.... If you have any questions about the club, please contact [email protected] If you have any questions about Covid protocols please contact [email protected]. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during these rapidly changing and challenging times.

Dear Parents of Pony and Girl Power players, Today, Dr. Bonnie Henry announced that there are to be no spectators at any indoor or outdoor sporting events. With these guidelines in place, Mid-Isle Executive has made the difficult decision to pause Pony and Girl Power soccer effective immediately, November 19. This means no practices and no games until the new year - start up date to be announced for January 2021. We believe this in the best interest for our little soccer p...layers, parents, coaches and community members and we appreciate your support and understanding during these difficult and rapidly changing COVID times. We wish you a wonderful, safe and healthy extended holiday break, and hope to be back playing soccer again early in 2021! All the best, Mid-Isle Soccer Executive

Hello Mid Isle Soccer Community, As we noted in our previous post/email, the executive gathered via a Zoom meeting tonight to discuss the recent COVID events in our community, and our surrounding area, in order to make some decisions on next steps for our club. Mid Isle Soccer is trying to keep our kids active and engaged in the great sport of soccer, but we need the assistance of our participants to continue doing so safely. It is crucial that players, parents and coaches ...assist us in keeping our kids safe by adhering to the COVID Return to Play Policy. As a reminder, all players and coaches are to sanitize their hands and cleats prior to entering the field of play. All players will enter the field at the gates on the washroom side of the field and exit on the other side of the field to prevent any inadvertent contact with the next group. Players and coaches are not to enter the field of play until their scheduled practice/game time and to come dressed to play. Any player, parent, family member or coach that is unwell, has been told to isolate by public health or is awaiting COVID 19 test results are NOT to attend any Mid Isle Soccer event. It is even more important now with the increasing number of positive COVID-19 test results on Vancouver Island that we are limiting the number of people at practices/games. We understand this can be a challenge depending on circumstances; however, we are requesting that parents drop off their player(s), remain in their vehicles or wear masks if needing to remain on site. As Dr. Henry has noted, keeping physical distance is helpful for limiting the spread of COVID-19 and we are requesting parents maintain the recommended six feet of space if they are staying at the field. Parents are asked not to stand near the entrance/exit gates. At this time Mid Isle Soccer is hoping to continue soccer activities until December 6 and then break for the holidays. The club intends to reconvene in the new year after assessing the conditions in our community. As always, we encourage parents to make decisions about whether they want their child(ren) attending practices/games and to remain in contact with the coaches. If you have any concerns regarding issues pertaining to COVID-19 safety protocols please send an email to our Risk Management Officer at [email protected]. As always, stay safe and healthy.

Mid-Isle Soccer Club 16.09.2020

Good afternoon Mid Isle community, In light of recent Covid activity there will be no soccer tonight Nov 16th, or tomorrow Nov 17th as the club reviews all new information about the status of COVID in our community. At this time we are not putting a full stop to soccer and further information will come out in the next few days. When/if we return to soccer it is imperative that all players, coaches and parents follow the return to play guidelines previously set out. This means... we need to increase and be diligent with our hand washing/sanitizing, not attending practices/games if a player is sick, as well as limiting the number of parents at the field and keep our distance as much as possible. A copy of our plan can be found on the Mid Isle website. The club is requesting that parents make a decision that makes sense for them and their family and remain in contact with their coaches. Thank you all for your understanding during this challenging time. Stay safe and well.
