We recommend clients to get their tax info to us sooner than later and not wait until the last minute. If you owe tax, it does not need to be paid until Sept 1, regardless of when you file. However Tax filing deadline is June 1st. Delaying filing, also delays your refund and access to credits and other government supports.
Good to see the small business wage subsidy increased to 75% of wages from 10%. Will help to keep people employed and businesses afloat.

COVID-19 Statement Brabant + Kretzschmann, Chartered Professional Accountants Midland ON, March 16/2020... Our office is open and is continuing to serve our clients during this unprecedented time. However, if you have recently been out of the country, or show symptoms of fever, cough or shortness of breath, we ask that you follow Health Canada’s guidelines and self-isolate for two weeks prior to visiting our office and dropping off, or picking up your tax returns. As at this time, the CRA has not made any changes to the tax filing deadline of April 30th. However, given there are new government announcements on a daily basis, we would expect, given these unprecedented times, that the tax filing deadline may be extended. We will update you if this is the case. We are taking precautions with staff and clients health in mind to try and keep the possible spread of COVID19 minimized. This may mean for example, reducing or limiting face to face interactions and meetings and instead we may arrange telephone calls to discuss specific situations or questions that you may have. We want to assure you that we will continue to do our utmost to have your tax returns prepared and completed on time as you would expect and continue to be of service to our clients.

When you purchase at locally owned businesses rather than nationally owned, more money is kept in the community because locally-owned businesses often purchase from other local businesses.

A good backgrounder on our supply management system for our dairy products. Although it keeps our prices of cheese and milk comparably higher than our US neighbours, it supports our family run dairy farms and farmers without resorting to large taxpayer funded subsidies like in the US. Nice to see Canadians of all political stripes unite against surprising trade threats from our southern neighbour.
