Disruptions due to COVID-19 and Lessons via Skype Dear Customers, Clients, Parents and Students! As you certainly know by now, all public schools will be closed for at least another 2 weeks after March Break in Ontario. Foreseeing this scenario, we at MIGA Music have been getting ready to be able to continue providing lessons via Skype. ... We have purchased and set up 9 tablets - one for each of our teaching rooms. We have set up Skype accounts for each of the 9 tablets. We had all systems in place as of this Sunday morning (March 15th). What we did not think of is that apparently, much of the world is in near lock-down due to COVID-19 and it is not only us who uses Skype. As we tried our systems, we encountered significant time lag issues, which unfortunately does not work for teaching music. We figured that perhaps a less popular video app would work better, so next we tried Google Hangouts. Unfortunately, we had to come to the same conclusion. At this point, we are forced to give up on the idea of music lessons via online video. We are mulling over other ideas that we may communicate to you, once deemed feasible and in place. There is no question about it, we need to do our part in stopping the spread of COVID-19. We can't just stay open and become a potential hub for spreading the virus. Due to the above, all our teachers have been instructed to stay at home at this time. The same applies to our receptionist (Terry) and our operations manager (Gabriel). Our location in Ajax will be temporarily closed. We apologize, but this may be the only communication you will receive from us until such time, that we are able to re-deploy our staff to their regular duties and re-open our Ajax location. Since this is all the information that we have at this time, and since no staff will be working at MIGA Music, please note, that we will NOT be able to answer your individual inquiries via text, phone calls or e-mails. Please rest assured, that we will notify you once we will deem it safe to resume in person lessons. Please also rest assured, that any pre-paid lessons will be honoured and provided once we re-open. We will ensure that we will properly communicate the re-opening of our school as soon as that date will become known to us. Your understanding and patience will be much appreciated.
