The book I read this week has been on my shelf ever since I freaked out because of fears about Covid crashing the market and more financially savvy friends told me to do more research. It was a bit intimidating but was a cool introduction to a subject I knew nothing about. Now I’m going to be asking you all to share the wonderful companies you are wanting to buy on the next Event? I’m also going to use it to write new jokes for the show: This sledgehammer is so off balan...ce when I juggle it but not as much as the Shiller Price-to-Earnings ratio has been over the last year, AM I RIGHT FOLKS?? #investing #marketcrash #warrenbuffett @danielletown @ruleoneinvesting

Consistency is the name of the game when building strength, find something you want and keep building towards it. Volume work today was 6 g8 bolts and 4 1/4 square bars, single ironmind wraps. #steelbending #strongman #workout #fitness #fitfam #strength #toronto #performerlife #circus

In 2015, I was working full time at an insurance company, bringing this suitcase to my desk and unpacking a very rough show to perform after 5pm. In those days I didn’t perform for money, I expected nothing and was happy if even a few people would watch. It was just a way to express myself and share my approach to strength and being a man where I sought to redefine these concepts after years of bullying and seeing myself as a victim had warped my view of the world and my ...place in it. Recently I was thinking about how in my normal life I am very private and introverted, but in the show I had to learn to put myself out there. Though it’s a show designed for the public, it’s also one of the most personal and intimate things I have ever shared with the world. #strongman #toronto #torontolife #queenstreetwest #workout #motivation

Today I finished this book. The first half is an account of the author’s experience in concentration camps during the war. The second half is a description of his psychological theory of logotherapy which is about the ways people find meaning in their lives. Live as if you were living already for the second time and if you had acted as wrongly as you are about to act now. He says we can find meaning in creativity, a purpose like art or some work we need to present, in lov...e, or in suffering. There are situations in which one is cut off from the opportunity to do one’s work or to enjoy one’s life; but what never can be ruled out is the unavoidability of suffering. In accepting this challenge to suffer bravely, life has a meaning up to the last moment, and it retains this meaning literally to the end. These ideas are different from my Zen heroes like Shunryu Suzuki, Thich Nhat Hanh, and Alan Watts, who emphasize experiencing the moment and not trying to attach anything to it, or striving towards a future goal. Frankl says that for him what literally kept people alive in front of him is that instinct to push towards something, even if that something is the ability to be worthy of one’s own suffering. What do you think? #victorfrankl #logotherapy #meaning #zen #attachment #psychology

It is quite impossible to unite happiness with a yearning for what we don’t have. Happiness has all that it wants, and resembling the well-fed, there shouldn’t be hunger or thirst - Epictetus, Discourses As the potential to come back to performing is around the corner, I find myself yearning to make it happen and feeling like I’ll be happy then. It’s not only a Stoic philosophy but Zen Buddhism as well teaches about the difficulty to combine happiness with wishing for thi...ngs to be different than they are. If I get back to performing, that’s great! I’ll see the crowds again and train my show. If things stay cancelled, that’s great! I’ll read more, stay connected with my loved ones and keep training to improve my strength. The only thing we can be certain of is change so let’s embrace life’s twists and turns and be worthy of facing them! #strongman #fair #festival #zen #alanwattsinspandex #bowlingball

2020 is almost over and here’s a feat for you to ring in the New Year! It’s two feet of 1/2in square steel. I tried another one but today it didn’t fall, despite half an hour of trying. There has been some ups and downs this year but friends remind me that we all can be grateful for some things and to keep those in mind. And to always keep trying, realizing that change is inevitable. This year just represents a huge dose of it, and sometimes change hurts. But then again so do...es bending a square of steel against your legs. Let’s make our resolutions to help each other, stay connected, keep moving forward towards our goals, and stay healthy! I’d love to hear your resolutions so comment them and inspire me please! #strongman #steelbending #strength #newyear #toronto #christmastree #workout #fun

The pandemic completely changed my approach to feats of strength. I used to just want to do enough so that I could put it in my show and impress the average person. These days I’m working on things that aren’t as visually impressive, but that build strength I never thought I’d have. Today’s workout was a great example. I used to think there’s no point to bend the Red Nail because people in a crowd can’t tell the difference between this and a regular nail. But it’s way harde...r. Here I took 0.5 inches off of a Red, which is imperceptible to the average viewer, but makes it even harder. It will be great to go back to shows, and I can’t wait to go back to that, but there’s something so pure about building my strength up and doing it for it’s own sake. That’s been a real saving grace during this time. Here’s wishing all of my friends on here will do something that will impress yourself today, whether or not you post about it on social media for validation #steelbending #strength #torontoartist #toronto #workout #rednail #fitness #fitfam

At the start of the year I had the goal of bending the red nail and getting on a list of people who have done it under these specific conditions. I got it in June but then to prevent injury took some major steps backwards and built my strength back up. Now I’m finally back to bending them and am happy to have taken the time. Building strength is not a race! Slow and steady is the way. Nothing worth achieving happens overnight. Stay focused on your goals friends, and remember to take it easy on yourself. We’re all going to get there maybe just not on our time. #steelbending #rednail #ironmind #tinwhistler #workout #strongman #fitness #fitfam

Just finished reading this book by the strong man and excellent author Robert EisenHans Spindler. He came to watch one of my shows in Austria and included me in the book! The book is great and I recommend anyone picking up a copy to learn about feats of strength and let’s be honest folks, isn’t EisenHans (IronHans) the best strongman name out there?

Happy Halloween! My treat to you is this video where we got Ryan Opar to try circus tricks and if he couldn't get it, had to eat a hotdog! See how many he got! See how many calories he consumed! And enjoy some halloween fun with your friends and family. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7S0IqJABHE

You may have seen me bending medium sized pieces of metal in my shows, well here’s a personal record I just hit today! This is a 5/8 inch round piece of hot rolled steel, measuring 26 inches long. Last time I did this I bent a 28 inch piece. This was brutal and took me over 20 minutes, here it is cut down to 1 minute of pain! I almost quit several times during this bend, but I’m so glad I didn’t! Make sure to not give up on yourself and always try to get a bit better every da...y. I’m diving deep into the techniques of the great steel benders and trying to carry on their legacy through my show and my life. The music that inspired me for this bend is from the tinwhistler, a YouTube channel of two brothers who are musical geniuses. Follow them! #steelbending #strongman #strength #workout #fitfam

The ultra niche podcast for metal benders Beyond the Bend issued a challenge to snap nails in 5 minutes, I tried it yesterday and apparently someone already got 9 so now I have to try again
